Note: This book was retitled 3rd Era Freeport Companion when the d20 License expired. This errata page will serve for both books.
Introduction (p. 2)
No notes.
Chapter One: Races of Freeport (p. 3)
p. 4, Monstrous Races: In the introductory paragraph, "as much as their home as" should read "their home as much as".
p. 6, Azhar: This book contains no sample azhari characters, but Dark Wings over Freeport contains one azhar pregenerated character (Basilah, p. 30), and True20 Freeport: The Lost Island contains an azhar Narrator Character (Iryana Banu, p. 41). (The latter, of course, would need to be converted to d20.)
Chapter Two: Freeport Classes (p. 8)
p. 12, Corsair: Abilities: Change "reckless abandon" to "canny defense".
p. 13, The Corsair: Under 20th level, dirty infighting should be "+5d4".
pp. 15-16, Acrobatics: Move the Opening Size table to the Diving text. Under Accelerated Swinging, "opening" should be "swing".
p. 19, Undead Hunter: Under Ghost Touch Weapon, italicize "ghost touch" in the Mastery line.
p. 20, Monster Sense: Change "i.e." to "e.g."
p. 22, Scholarly Training: The Scholar line should be "Savant".
p. 23, Organize: In the second sentence, "you may your own aid another check" should be "you make your own aid another check". In the example, the noble must be 6th level in order to target these characters.
p. 25, [Survivor]: Bonus Feat: The Knock Down feats does not appear in Chapter 3.
pp. 26-27, NPC Class; The Cultist: In the introductory paragraph, "p0wer" should be "power".
p. 26, Using the Cultist: There is no "Greater Cultist" entry in this book; delete the reference. See Gods of Freeport, p. 54, for domains and favored weapons of specific gods. (The God of Murder, God of Pirates, Oona, the Unspeakable One, and Yig's Sskethvai sect are especially appropriate.)
p. 27, Deity, Domains, and Domain Spells: Change "Chooses" to "Choose". Change "represent his" to "represent yours". Is the granted power only gained at 4th level and up, as with spells?
p. 27, Fanatic: See pp. 43-46 for the Insanity and Madness rules.
Chapter Three: Supplemental Rules (p. 28)
Gods are listed in Chapter Five (p. 54); there are no environmental rules in this book.
pp. 28-29, Knowledge (Forbidden): Under Synergy, insert "or oozes" after "aberrations".
An early draft of the d20 Freeport Companion included incantation rules (based on those in Unearthed Arcana), but they were apparently cut for lack of example rituals. However, "Fury in Freeport" contains one incantation without giving the rules for using it. To fill this omission, I have presented Freeport Incantation Rules for d20.
p. 31, Table 3-2: New Feats (Con't): "Con't" should be "Cont'd".
p. 32, Table 3-2: New Feats (Con't): "Con't" should be "Cont'd". Under Weapon Display, delete "and damage". Under Background Feats, "Francisco's" should be "Francisco".
p. 33, Blood of Pirates: "Background" should be "(Background)". Change "leant" to "lent".
p. 40, Merchant's Blood: "Background" should be "(Background)".
p. 41, Run 'im Through: As written, this feat does not apply to rapiers.
p. 42, Shanghai: Under Special, "Shanghai" should not be capitalized.
p. 43, Consequences of Insanity Points: In the second paragraph, delete "permanent"; madness may be short-term, long-term, or indefinite.
p. 46, Using Insanity: Incantations were dropped from the final draft. See Freeport Incantation Rules for d20.
Chapter Four: Goods and Gear (p. 47)
Stormwrack (Wizards of the Coast) includes more equipment suitable for Freeport campaigns, including boats, ships, and bombards (early cannon). (If using that book, all firearms and bombards use gunpowder.)
pp. 47-48, Firearms: In the third full paragraph on p. 48, "experiment" should be "experimented". In the last paragraph, insert "to" after "attractive".
pp. 48-49, Rules for Firearms: The costs of black powder is not given. Either assume that it's included in the ammunition cost, or use the following data from Freeport: The City of Adventure, pp. 149-150:
Black powder: 50 gp, 2 lb.; pistols, muskets, and musketoons require 1 oz. per shot, grenade launchers 2 oz., and swivel guns 4 oz.
p. 49, Table 4-1: Weapons: The Critical column for Firearms does not need the "20", just the "x2" or "x3". Under Stinger FP, Dmg (M) should be "3d4".
p. 51, Cadaver: Change "(or mostly intact corpse)" to "(or mostly intact) corpse".
p. 53, Optional Rules: Ingested Onset Times for POisons: "POisons" should be "Poisons".
p. 53, Table 4-7: Services: After Docking Fees, insert:
Hireling
Trained -- 3 sp per day
Untrained -- 1 sp per day
(These wages are taken from the True20 Freeport Companion.)
p. 53, Optional Rules: Ingested Onset Times for POisons: "POisons" should be "Poisons".
Chapter Five: Spells and Magic (p. 54)
An early draft of the d20 Freeport Companion included incantation rules (based on those in Unearthed Arcana), but they were apparently cut for lack of example rituals. However, "Fury in Freeport" contains one incantation without giving the rules for using it. To fill this omission, I have presented Freeport Incantation Rules for d20.
p. 54, 7th-Level Cleric Spells: The "F" after "Pirate's Booty" should be superscript.
pp. 54-55, Unspeakable Domain: The "M" after "Inscribe Yellow Sign" should be superscript.
p. 54, Gods of Freeport: The Darkness domain does not appear in the PHB. See "Additional Domains" in the SRD: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/domains.htm#darknessDomain
Partial domain information can be inferred about other gods from the stats of their clerics: God of Death (Death, Law) [Rudimar Harrow, LN]; God of Magic (Knowledge, Magic) [Eudokia Kasovar, Xort, both N]; God of Retribution (Destruction, Protection) [Asha Sante, LN]. See also my index page Gods of Freeport for divine data from other sources.
p. 55, 3rd-Level Sorcerer/Wizard Spells: The "M" after "Fortify Mind" should be superscript.
p. 55, Body of Eyes: The Material Component line should not have a hanging indent.
p. 65, Staff of Tempests: Italicize spell names.
pp. 65-66, Armillary Sphere: "Knowledge (the plane)" should be "Knowledge (the planes)".
p. 67, Feather Token (Flash): Cost to Create should be "150 gp, 12 XP, 1 day".
p. 67, Feather Token (Fog): Under Prerequisites, "daylight" should be "fog cloud". Cost to Create should be "150 gp, 12 XP, 1 day".
p. 68, Figurehead of Blue Water: In the last sentence, "tough" should be "touching".
p. 71, Bile and Lashes: Under Legends, capitalize "bile and lashes".
pp. 72-73, Silver Sphere: a 2-foot diameter, 60 lb. sphere seems rather awkward to carry!
Chapter Six: Prestige Classes (p. 74)
pp. 76-77, Musketeer: This book contains no sample musketeer characters.
pp. 77-79, Mystic Navigator: This book contains no sample mystic navigator characters. (However, a couple of characters presented in the [systemless] Buccaneers of Freeport are obvious candidates for the prestige class.)
pp. 81-82, Witch Hunter: This book contains no sample witch hunter characters.
Chapter Seven: Denizens of Freeport (p. 83)
pp. 83-90, Common Characters: In the True20 Freeport Companion, all Common Characters are human, with a brief note about altering them for nonhumans. Here, however, there is no such note, the Urchin is a halfling, and the Apprentice Thug is a half-orc.
p. 84, Apprentice Commoner: Under Possessions, delete "combat gear plus".
pp. 84-85, Journeyman Cultist: Insert "human" after "Male or female". Under Cultist Spells Prepared, the "D" after desecrate and protection from good should be superscript.
p. 85, Apprentice Longshoreman: As an expert, this NPC should have 2 more skills at 4 ranks each.
p. 85, Journeyman Mercenary: This character has 1 unspent skill point; raise Swim to +2. Under Possessions, delete "combat gear plus".
p. 86, Apprentice Pirate: Insert "human" after "Male or female". Ref should be +3 (1 base, 0 Dex, 2 feat).
p. 86, Journeyman Pirate: Insert "human" after "Male or female". Under Feats, the "B" after Rope Monkey should be superscript. Under Possessions, capitalize "privateer".
p. 87, Apprentice Priest: Athletic seems like a pretty useless feat for someone with a -9 ACP and no ranks in either skill. Something like Scribe Scroll or Alertness would be much more appropriate.
p. 87, Journeyman Priest: Insert "human" after "Male or female".
p. 88, Sea Lord's Guard Sergeant: Insert "human" after "Male or female".
p. 88, Syndicate Enforcer: The "B" after "Iron Will" should be superscript. This character should have 18 skill points but was only given 15; raise Bluff, Listen, and Spot by one each.
p. 88, Hellhound: Under Possessions, "hp" should be "gp".
p. 89, Journeyman Thug: Changes Senses to "Listen +7, Spot +2" to match Skills.
p. 89, Freeport Watchman: Under Possessions, delete "combat gear plus".
p. 89, Freeport Watch Sergeant: Under Ranged and Possessions, "repeating crossbow" should be "repeating light crossbow". This character should only have 15 skill points, not 20 [Climb 3 ranks, Intimidate 5, Jump 3, Listen 1(cc), Search 1(cc), Spot 1(cc), Swim 3]. The easiest fix is to raise Int to 12 (which also raises Search to +2).
p. 90, Exiled Necromancer: Under Senses, delete "sense;". Add one bonus language. This character should have 54 skill points, but has only been given 53; either Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft can take one more rank.
pp. 90-122, Notable Characters: Is there any particular reason why the True20 Freeport Companion alphabetized Notable Characters by first name, and the d20 Freeport Companion does by last name? Several characters on pp. 100-106 are out of alphabetical order.
p. 91, Granth: Delete "speak with master" from Languages; Alcindar is too low level for this familiar trait.
p. 91, Alfhild: "Human female" should be "Female human".
pp. 91-92, Bianka Altanish: "Human female" should be "Female human".
p. 92, Dirwin "Nimblefingers" Arnig: Intimidate should be +4 (0 ranks, 2 Cha, 2 Bluff). It seems rather odd that a bard of his level would only take 4 ranks in Knowledge (history), when 5 would give him a +2 synergy bonus to bardic knowledge.
pp. 92-93, Aporcus Beedle: "Knorbertal" should be "Knorrbertal".
p. 94, Andrea Blax: Italicize "cloak of the manta ray" in the altered stats entry.
p. 96, Countess D'Amberville: Note that she is only 16th level in the True20 Freeport Companion, but 20th level here (and in "Salon du Masque," where she originally appeared).
p. 97, Darius Dorvin: "4 HD" should be "5 HD".
pp. 100-101, Gringa: In the Rage stat block, the Spd line is unnecessary.
p. 102, Admiral Hrothy: Hrothy should have 143 skill points, but has only been given 142. Add 1 point to one skill.
p. 103, Fargas Ironfoot: In the introductory paragraph and stat block header, "Fargus" should be "Fargas".
p. 104, Jozan Feg: He should have 63 skill points [(Exp3=42) + (Sor2=6) + (DD5=15)], but has been given 64 (9 ranks in Spellcraft; 7 each in Bluff, Concentration, Diplomacy, Gather Information, Listen, Profession, and Spot; 5 ranks in Escape Artist; and 1 in Speak Language). Also, the dragon disciple prestige class requires 8 ranks of Knowledge (arcana) and he only has 2. My suggested fix for these problems is: delete Escape Artist (and Use Rope, which loses the synergy bonus) and lower Spellcraft by 2; Knowledge (arcana) becomes 9 ranks (for +9), granting Spellcraft a +2 synergy bonus (and returning it to +9).
p. 106, Karl the Kraken: Under Possessions, "5 gp" should not be italicized.
p. 106, K'stallo: Replace "the High Priest Thuron" with "Thuron, the High Priest". The Pirate's Guide to Freeport lists him as "journeyman" (6th-10th level), but he is made an 18th level cleric here. (He is only 8th level in the True20 Freeport Companion.) Indent his 3rd-level spells.
pp. 106-107, Lexi: Wis has not been modified for her IP 3; either 1) make her Wis 10/16 (13) or 2) make her Wis 7/13 (10) and reduce her Will, Listen, Sense Motive, and Spot by 2.
pp. 107-108, Marilise Maeorgan: Under Melee, capitalize "Reaverbane".
p. 110, Omar Nkota: Under feats, insert a superscript "B" after "Improved Two-Weapon Fighting".
p. 111, Wink: A 5th-level sorcerer's familiar has Int 8 (not 9).
pp. 112-113, Thulmir Quent: Ranged damage should be 1d4.
p. 113, Red Alice: As an actress-turned-assassin, would it make more sense for her to have another class at 1st level (perhaps expert)? Or was her career derailed too early for that to matter?
pp. 113-114, Draegar Redblade: Draegar should have 5 feats from his character level and 7 bonus fighter feats, for a total of 12. However, only 7 feats are listed (presumably the fighter bonus feats).
p. 114, Nifur Roberts: Her skills don't reflect the "business savvy" mentioned in her intro blurb--she has no Profession or Appraise, and only mediocre Bluff and Diplomacy.
p. 115, Bill Sanagpulatele: The stat block gives him a falchion, but the illustration shows him with a (throwing?) axe and nunchaku.
pp. 115-116, Asha Sante: Change "Retribution God" to "Justice God". Delete "Sense Motive +2"; she would have a +3 minimum from Wisdom.
p. 116, Captain Scarbelly: Under Ranged and Possessions, "dragon" should be "Dragon". The Pirate's Guide to Freeport makes Scarbelly a journeyman (6th-10th level), and he is 7th level here. However, Buccaneers of Freeport makes him a master (11th+ level). Under Possessions, insert "Bloody" before "Vengeance".
p. 116, Dreiden Simmerswell: "Diving Finn" should be "Diving Fin".
pp. 116-117, Kyrga Stonefoot: Profession should be +7 (6 ranks, +1 Wis).
p. 117, Laria Syrtis: Will should be "+9 (+11 against enchantments)".
pp. 117-118, Tarmon, High Wizard: Under feats, the "B" after Scribe Scroll should be superscript. Reduce Listen, Sense Motive, Spot, and Survival by 3; his IP 6 reduces his Wis from 17 to 11.
p. 118, Thorgrim: He's in the Order of Starry Wisdom but has no ranks in Knowledge (forbidden).
pp. 118-119, Timothy: Under Feats, the "B" after Alertness should be superscript.
p. 119, Hector Torian: "Sea Ghost" should be "Silver Ghost".
p. 119, Halkos Tremiir: Add Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat.
pp. 119-120, Aleksander Tovac: "Sondek" should be "Sandek"; "Tando" should be "Tanko". Delete one language; he only had Int 18 at 1st level.
p. 120, Hannah: Reduce Concentration to +6 (master's 6 ranks, 0 Con) and Craft (alchemy) to +5 (master's 6 ranks, -1 Int).
p. 120, Trask: Under Saves, "; +2 against illusions" should be "(+8 against illusions)".
p. 121, Buster Wallace: Under Feats, the "B" after Iron Will should be superscript.
Chapter Eight: Freeport Bestiary (p. 123)
The following creatures appear in the True20 Freeport Companion but not in the d20 version or in Creatures of Freeport: Dream Children; Fleshraker; Neothelid (see psionics SRD); Pwalg (see Shadows in Freeport); and Unspeakable Ichor. (The v.3.0 book Denizens of Freeport includes a Chiao NPC, but no v.3.5 update to Jade Dragons & Hungry Ghosts is available.)
p. 124, Brass Monkey: Why is this creature presented here, rather than in Chapter 5, like the Figurehead of War? (The True20 Freeport Companion presents it in the Artifacts section.) Add a period at the end of the description line. Under Attack Options, magic strike is not explained.
pp. 124-125, Burnling: Under Skills, insert "+6" after Listen and Spot, as given under Senses.
pp. 126-129, Fire Spectre: "Immolating Ire" is called "Ire of Hell" in the template text (p. 129).
p. 126, Ship of the Damned Pirate: Under Feats, "B" should be superscript.
Appendix: Fury in Freeport (p. 138)
Throughout: "Knorbertal" should be "Knorrbertal".
p. 139, Beedle's Latest Scheme: In the last paragraph, insert "it" at the end of the first sentence.
p. 141, Snooping: "Encounter E" should be "Encounter F".
p. 144, What Next?: Italicize and capitalize the "the" before "Pirate's Guide to Freeport".
p. 146, C. Beedle's Flat: In the second paragraph of Kergen's Kradle, insert "to" after "access".
p. 146, Table A-3: Slick: In the DC 15 entry, insert "they" before "abide".
p. 147, Gotcha!: Change "of a wagon" to "off a wagon".
p. 148, F. The Knor[r]bertal House: In the first sentence of Nosy Neighbors, "check" should be "checks".
p. 149, I. The Narwhale: As implied under A Century Later (p. 139), Mazin uses a language other than Common. Farastay knows Common, but the rest of the crew might not.
p. 149, Meeting O'takan Farastay: "Narajan" should be "Naranjan".
p. 149, Investigating the Narwhale: Italicize and capitalize the "the" before "Pirate's Guide to Freeport".
p. 151, What Now?: Under Keeping Things Straight, "Mazin's" should be "Farastay's".
p. 156, G. Hold and Cannon Deck: The Pirate's Guide, pp. 231-232, states that cannon were invented by the dwarves since Kolter's invention of firearms. DMs who do not wish to introduce cannon into their games should remove them, possibly replacing them with ballistae. In any case, no statistics for the cannon are given in the d20 Freeport Companion.
p. 157, The Cook: Under Feats, the Skill Focus applies to Intimidate, not Initiative.
p. 158, Call Forth the Fiend: Incantations were dropped from the final draft. See Freeport Incantation Rules for d20.
The skulldugger given here is a fully advanced version of the skulldugger in The Book of Fiends (pp. 70-71) except that its size has not been increased to Large. Correct this as follows:
CE Large undead (chaotic, evil, extraplanar)
Init +5
AC 15, touch 10, flat-footed 13 (-1 size, +1 Dex, +5 natural)
Ref +4
Melee 2 claws +9 (1d6+5) and bite +6 (1d8+2)
Grp +13
Str 20, Dex 12
Skills Balance +15, Jump +19, Tumble +15
For a 1st-level adventure, it seems far more reasonable to summon a normal skulldugger (CR 4).
p. 158, Aftermath: In the last paragraph, "Mazin" should be "Farastay".
Index (p. 158)

License (p. 160)
p. 160, 15. COPYRIGHT NOTICE: Insert a comma after "Swords of Our Fathers". Add a period at the end of The Psychic's Handbook line. Delete "(C)" from Seas of Blood; replace "(C)" with "Copyright" in Cry Havoc and Skull & Bones.
