Throughout
This adventure was written and released in the summer of 2014, before the new Freeport: The City of Adventure, Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Edition [F:COA] sourcebook was released, so uses the older Freeport Companion: Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Edition [FC:PF] (2008). The new book makes many changes to how some of that older material works in Pathfinder. Details about these changes are discussed under the affected entries below. [Page references to F:COA will be added after that book is released.]
Introduction: A Light in the Darkness (p. 3)
pp. 3-4, Assumed Resources: Capitalize and italicize the "the" before "Pirate's Guide to Freeport". The Pathfinder books required to run this adventure include the Advanced Player's Guide, Bestiary, Bestiary 2, Core Rulebook, GameMastery Guide, and Ultimate Combat. As the adventure states, this material can be found in the Pathfinder System Reference Document.
p. 5, Running the Adventure Arc: Italicize "The Shipping News" (3 instances).
In the last bullet entry, "page @@" should be "page 8".
pp. 8, 12, Lantern Wraith: Delete "DR/-- physical"; the incorporeal trait covers immunity/resistance to physical attacks. The attack bonus for draining touch is +8 [BAB 5, 3 Dex]. CMD should be "25", not "+25". Under Special Abilities, Detect Thoughts, Discern Lies, and Prestidigitation should be listed in the main stat block (probably in the SQ line).
p. 11, Table 2-7: Freeport-Specific Truths: Under result 6, "Yarrash" should be spelled "Yarash".
pp. 12-14, Granthu (qlippoth): Under Senses, add "true seeing".
AC does not include Granthu's Dodge feat or +2 racial bonus for Spindly. AC should be 33, touch 21, flat-footed 24.
Under hp, add "(15d10+75)". Its hp are somewhat higher than average for its HD and Con.
Granthu's saving throws are too high. (It appears that his ring of protection +3 was added to them in error?) They should be: Fort +10 [poor save 5, 5 Con], Ref +19 [good save 9, 8 Dex, 2 racial], Will +15 [good save 9, 6 Wis].
"Reach" should be bold.
Under SQ, delete "evasion [from ring]" (this text appears already under Defensive Abilities); "embedded eye domination" should probably be moved to Special Attacks.
Under Spell-Like Abilities, most of Granthu's illusion spells should have DC's listed: DC 19 for major image [10, spell level 3, 6 Cha], DC 20 for hallucinatory terrain [10, spell level4, 6 Cha], and DC 21 for persistent image and mirage arcana [10, spell level 5, 6 Cha].
CMB should be 42 [10, BAB 15, 3 Dex, 8 Str, 3 deflection, 1 dodge, 2 racial].
Under Skills, add "+2 Escape Artist" to Racial Modifiers.
Granthu has 24 unspent skill points, and one too many class skills (see below). It gets ([6 + 8 Int] x 15 = 210 skill points. 186 skill points have been spent as follows:
Acrobatics +17 [9, 8 Dex]
Bluff +24 [15, 3 class skill, 6 Cha]
Climb +20 [9, 3 Str, 8 racial (climb speed)]
Disguise +24 [15, 3 class skill*, 6 Cha]
Escape Artist +10 [0, 8 Dex, 2 racial]
Intimidate +24 [15, 3 class skill*, 6 Cha]
Knowledge (arcana) +17 [9, 8 Int]
Knowledge (dungeoneering) +17 [9, 8 Int]
Knowledge (history) +26 [15, 3 class skill*, 8 Int]
Knowledge (local) +26 [15, 3 class skill*, 8 Int]
Knowledge (planes) +17 [6, 3 class skill, 8 Int]
Knowledge (religion) +17 [9, 8 Int]
Perception +36 [15, 3 class skill, 6 Wis, 8 racial, 4 feat]
Sense Motive +28 [15, 3 class skill, 6 Wis, 4 feat]
Stealth +34 [15, 3 class skill, 8 Dex, 8 racial]
Use Magic Device +24 [15, 3 class skill*, 6 Cha]
Outsiders add 4 class skills to the list in the Bestiary; these class skills are marked * above. However, to get the skill modifiers listed in the adventure, Granthu had to have chosen 5. (The class skill bonus for Knowledge [planes] seem to have been applied to history or local instead?) To correct its skills, delete the class skill bonus from one of asterisked skills, and divide the unspent 24 skill points between its 6 skills that are not at max ranks.
p. 18, Alia Cole: Authority Adjunct: Separate her two classes with a "/". Her alignment should be LN; she is a monk and a servant of the LN Amalgamation.
Chapter 1: Dead Men Tell No Tales...Except in Freeport (p. 19)
pp. 20-21, Part Two: Dinner at Maurice's: In F:COA, crime boss has been turned into a rogue archetype rather than a prestige class. See that book for Finn's revised stat block.
p. 21, Magical Investigation: "Advanced Players Guide" should be "Advanced Player's Guide".
pp. 22-23, Jeeves: In F:COA, the survivor class is now an archetype.
Chapter 2: Thieves and Thoughtwipes (p. 26)
pp. 27-28, Part One: Offices of the Shipping News": In the first line, "the" should be "The".
p. 31, Map 2: The Docks; and p. 34, Map 3: The Unrepentant: An overlaid grid would be very useful for showing exactly how big each location is.
pp. 30-33, 2B. Snooping: In Pathfinder stat blocks, the race/class/level line goes between XP and alignment/size/type. Add an entry for the stone golem:
Stone Golem CR 11
XP 12,800
hp 107 (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary)
p. 31, Hobgoblin Bosun; and p. 35, Captain Zotai Sarangay: In F:COA, the corsair class has been renamed the freebooter. See that book for details of the reworked class.
pp. 31-32, Hobgoblin First Mate: Under Languages, "Azhar" should be "Azharan".
p. 35, Captain Zotai Sarangay: Greataxes are two-handed weapons, and Sarangay lacks Two-Weapon Fighting as well. he can only wield one greataxe at a time.
p. 35, New Magic Weapon Special Abilities: Italicize "remove curse".
Chapter 3: The Oracle of Dreaming Street (p. 37)
p. 37, Background: Italicize "detect thoughts".
pp. 40-41, 4B. Waiting Room: Under the second bullet point, italicize "whispering wind".
pp. 41-43, 4E. Parlor: The paragraph in blue text and parentheses should be normal (not read-aloud) text.
The Tactics section (p. 43) states that Malarin uses ranged attacks as long as possible. However, her only ranged attack is her gaze.
pp. 44-45, 4F. The Madam's Boudoir: Before Combat states that Abhilasha casts invisibility in preparation for combat, which would rule out the encounter opening described in the read-aloud text. Under Development, the Knowledge (dungeoneering) check should be Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft.
Chapter 4: Truth Sunders (p. 46)
pp. 48-49, Sundered (Primordial Life-Anchor) Template: Under Specialized Attacks, "Specialized" should be "Special"; italicize "Bestiary". Under Skills, changing skill points for an acquired template that will need to be applied during play seems needlessly complicated. Fortunately, the sundered encountered here have no racial HD, most PCs will have no racial HD, and the axiomites are already outsiders.
p. 49, Sundered (Primordial Life-Anchor) Characters: Italicize "heal".
p. 50, Asylum Guards: The guards are CR 3. Capitalize "human" in the race/class/level line.
p. 51, Map 5: Chambers Asylum Basement: The scale should be 1 square = 5 feet, not 10 feet, to match the other maps in this adventure.
p. 52, 5D. Treatment Room: Italicize "Bestiary 2".
p. 55, 6F. Upper Kitchen: The dumbwaiter is in the north wall. There should be a space between Ezma's information and the next paragraph.
p. 57, 7B. Staff Dining Room: The dumbwaiter is in the north wall. The map shows the cabinet in the NE corner.
p. 58, Bianka Altanish and Vahgren: F:COA has recast Altanish as a 7th-level alchemist, but does not provide a stat block.
Chapter 5: Granthu's Lair (p. 61)
pp. 62, 64, 8B. Port Cavern: Under During Combat, replace "(see Heightened Discord sidebar, page 13)" with "(see The Dimensional Lock sidebar, page 65)".
pp. 68-69, 8M. Main Corridor: Under Treasure, the magic belt is not "worn out"; it simply gives no benefit to undead, who have no Con score.
p. 73, 8U, Arcane Laboratory: If the dimensional galleon's engines are brought fully online (see The Dimensional Lock sidebar, p. 65), the demon will have difficulty teleporting away.
p. 76, 8CC. Spiders' Lair: Under Treasure, italicize "laurel of command".
p. 79, If the Dimensional Galleon Survives: At the end of the second paragraph, delete the ")" after "Combat".
License (p. 80)
p. 80, Open Game License Version 1.0: "Advanced Player's Manual" should be in bold to match the rest of section 15.
