Thomas Vetromile
Thom's 2011 Autobiography
After Graduation from Staples High School 1961 attended two semesters at Marietta College in Ohio. Transfered to Nasson College in Springvale ME. to graduate with a BA in English. Thought I would career in teaching… 1967 found me in Aspen CO enjoying the ski season. Stayed for 6 years and learned the restaurant business. Married Bronwen Williams in 1970 (we met at Nasson College). In 1973 we moved to Sandpoint ID (big lake, Lake Pend Oreille and large ski area Schweitzer Mountain Resort.). Purchased an old two story brick building and opened a small restaurant, The Pasta House. Worked seven days a week until we sold the operation in 1980. During the late seventies I worked with partners and began operation of the FM Radio Station KPND 95.3 in the spring of 1980 - serving Sandpoint and the surrounding communities. By the fall of 1980 our family grew as Bronwen had our first and only child Lauren Vetromile. Sold the radio station in 1986 and moved to Seattle in 1987. Worked in the Marine Industry managing a chandlery and then became an Independent Insurance Agent for the last 12 years of my working career.
As of the fall of 2007 we have retired to a small dwelling on a 15 acre meadow in Northern Idaho. Here we run a hay field for our neighbors horses and mules, two small gardens in the summer, and enjoy ma nature’s wildlife the rest of the year. Golden Eagles, Deer, Moose, Elk, Turkeys, Bear, Wolf, Coyote, Canadian Geese, Ducks, Beaver, Blue Heron, Gray Cranes, Turtles and many more birds have been seen on the property.
