Elizabeth Flanagan Gaudreau
Betty's 2011 Autobiography
After high school I went to Boston. I was at Boston University and met my future husband. He was a law student. We married in 1966, moved to New York City. We loved New York and spent summers on Compo Beach again. Then moved back to Boston in 1971. Our son Russell III was born in 1972. Our second son Seth was born in 1977. Loved Boston as a city to live in. We moved to Washington, D. C. in 1991 and stayed until 2004, then back to Boston.
I have spent my time during these years working in NYC in TV commercials for EUE/Columbia Pictures in the production end of the business. Then working for non-profits in Boston and D.C. I am now on the board of The MacDowell Colony, the oldest artist colony in the U.S.A. I still see many friends from our Westport days and still treasure their friendship. We have spent summers in Provincetown, MA since 1978. Live in the same house we bought in 1986 on Beacon Hill in Boston and now flee the snow in winter to Fort Lauderdale, FL. If anyone from the class of 1961 is passing through any of these places, please contact me. I love to renew old friendships. I always think of the Seals and Crofts song that says, “We may never pass this way again.” I consider myself very lucky to have grown up in Westport of the 50s and 60s. We all had ups and downs but as a whole they were very happy times.
We have three grandchildren, Abigale, 7, Elizabeth, 5, and Russell, 9 months and they live in New Canaan, CT!
I am looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it to the reunion and will miss all who won’t be with us.
