Sandy's 2011 Autobiography
I landed on the Left Coast in 1968 after graduate school in Michigan, and have had only infrequent contact with classmates, Westport and nearby parts of the Wrong Coast since.
Upon completing a lengthy career with an acoustic consulting firm in 2001, I set up my own company to continue business as usual with a new logo. I solved the retirement problem by arranging my life so that there won’t be any. Two marriages, four children, and two grandchildren (so far) later, I am pleased to report that none of the progeny has been incarcerated (so far). I am currently squandering their inheritances on a mountain cabin in Sequoia National Monument.
As a child of the 1960s, the minor roles that drugs, sex, and rock and roll have played in my life over the last half century has been a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, the balance of satisfactions versus regrets and missed opportunities is favorable overall. I do wish that I had followed the advice of Edna Kearns (Staples Latin teacher) and taken a few more years.
Sandy's 2021 Uodate
After drifting around colleges in New England for a few years before and after Staples (Colby, Trinity, Brown, Yale), I finished graduate school in the mid-60s, married in Ann Arbor, and moved to Los Angeles. Two daughters and 6 dogs later, the first wife found me a second and moved to Isfahan in the early 90s to live with a Persian choreographer. Two more kids later, she returned to the U.S. and the second wife left for a younger woman. Have now been living in the same
house in L.A. for 50 years.
Still working on aircraft noise-related research, and hoping to hear favorably on a competitive contract award for NASA in the near future for several more years of supersonic aircraft noise work. Kids (and three grandkids) live in California and Colorado. It's worth sticking around just to see how it all comes out.
