Todd's 2011 Autobiography
After high school I received my B.A. from the University of Connecticut (1966), completed two years towards a Counseling Psychology degree at Columbia University (1966 - 1968), and a PhD. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1974.
I got married in graduate school at the University of Tennessee to Jeanne, stayed married fourteen years, then divorced, and am still good friends with my ex-wife who lives locally.
Jeanne and I had one child, Jennifer, who lives in Hawaii with her boyfriend of ten years. I have two grandchildren, Rios and Christiana.
My first job after graduate school was as a psychologist at Palm Beach County Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center for one year. I then became Director of Outpatient Services for three years at the same facility before branching into private practice. I have been in full time private practice as a clinical psychologist since 1974 in Palm Beach county. I treat patients with depressive and anxiety disorders, marital and relationship problems, anger management, and have specialized programs for smoking and alcohol cessation.
In my spare time, I do long distance aerobic exercise, swimming, biking, and running and a completed a number of triathlons. I am a vegan vegetarian. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll get a few extra years. I read extensively in the areas of health, nutrition, and longevity.
While I continue to enjoy my work as a clinical psychologist, my most memorable pleasures have been traveling to different cultures and the fascinating people I have met in Thailand, Philippines, Honduras, etc., and I plan to retire overseas in about two years, when I will continue to travel throughout southeast Asia and other parts of the world.
