Arvid Brandstrom
Arvid's 2011 Autobiography
After graduating from Staples in 1961, the following two years were spent primarily in Westport working odd jobs and ‘hanging out’ with friends. After coming to the realization that a higher education was necessary, I headed off to Mitchell College in New London for a year and UConn for another three years, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science. My major was English, minors were in Art History, Economics, and Political Science. With diploma in hand, I returned to Westport where I joined my father’s company for a short time and married Pamela Niles (class of ’62) after dating for more than seven years. On December 2, 2011 she will have officially put up with me for fifty years.
Moving fast forward, we now have two wonderful daughters with five grandchildren and live in an old 1750 farm house on the Aspetuck River in Easton. We also have a home in Pompano Beach, FL where we spend half of our time. My business interests include manufacturing, solar energy, real estate and retail. Aside from being a great mother, Pam had a brief career as a shoe designer before we were married. I enjoy sail boat racing at CPYC during the summer months and am currently adapting to power boating as well. Architecture and landscaping have also been known to capture and hold my interest.
