Janet Morrissey Brinkop
Janet's 2011 Autobiography
I graduated in 1965 from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Spanish and Latin American Area Studies. After one semester of post graduate work in Mexico, I married Fred Brinkop, my boyfriend in college, and moved to San Francisco Bay Area where he was attending Stanford Law School. We have two children and five grandchildren all living in Merced and Oakland, California. I taught ESL for 30+ years and then worked as a technology mentor helping teachers integrate computer skills into the curriculum. I've been active in community theater since college days both as a performer and choreographer and have directed several productions. I love music and the arts. I'm an avid skier and Fred and I "still ski" 20 or more days a year with our senior season's passes at Squaw Valley. So far, the body parts are holding up and we love skiing with our grandchildren! I've also fallen in love with golf and hit the links two to three time a week. Other interests include politics--I'm a genuine issue Bay Area Liberal, and going to movies.

Janet’s Update (2021)
I barely consider myself an alum since my family moved to Westport in February of our junior year and I was basically incognito until the last semester of our senior year when I started making friends. I have some great memories of Westport, especially at Christmas! I do credit some of the teachers at Staples, especially Mr. Leonard and Mr. Hall, for awakening my mind! Such a gift. Excellent school. I went to Washington U. In St Louis so was only in Westport for summers and then my dad was transferred to St Louis in the fall of my senior year, 1964 and I haven’t been back to Connecticut since.
Inspired by RBG and the music from Hamilton, this YouTube video was my passionate plea in the name of decency and honor to elect Joe Biden in the battle for the heart and soul of our country.
