George's 2100 Autobiography
To the Class of 1961:
Best wishes to those that are still here and fond memories to those who have not made the journey to this point.
There have been many ups and downs but most events have had positive results.
A brief history with the most sordid events removed (for later discussion). Dates are general times as exact times are difficult to remember at this time of my life.
After graduating from U of Denver in 65, went to work for a division of Emerson Electric. This lasted for brief time (the last 45 years). We finally parted ways last spring. The last 7 years were on a consulting basis, very enjoyable.
Lived for few years with Doug Janson, Roger Matthews and Dick Samose on Fairfield Beach. The details will remain sealed.
Janson passed away many years ago and Matthews about 5 years ago. Samose and I are still among us.
Married Marg Moss and had 2 of the most wonderful daughters. Like many of us, we divorced after 10 years. We still remain friendly and have many celebrations together. Both daughters graduated from The College of Charleston at the same time, we had a cocktail party the night before. Their friends could not believe that Marg and Josie (current wife) could get along so well.
Started life over again, with buying a beach house in Milford, CT.
After much work and decorating, it became a very comfortable home. The kids would come for weekends and vacations. Why not, there was a ski boat, jet skis and a sailboat. We had a private beach at the foot of the street.
I remarried during this time. Josie and my girls are very close. Why not, she came with 3 other children. They all are still close and see each other frequently.
Life at the beach came to an end in 91, after 15 years of parties and good times. The girls were now going into college and I needed to get my career moving.
I transferred to Virginia as our Sales Manager. Not knowing much about the great state, I let my wife figure out where to live. I had no business in a little town called Williamsburg, but we could live there. So we spent 20 years growing up in the village of Williamsburg. We built two homes. Needless to say, to the whole family it was a neat B & B. Like the beach house it was always full of family and friends.
The family kept on growing. We had 6 weddings and 6 grand children. It seems to be stable for the moment.
This fall we packed up Williamsburg, sold what we could, the house went in 40 days.
November 1 we moved to The Villages in FL. I hope to spend the next 20 years here. Over 500 holes of golf, 1500 other activities, an exultant Hospital, music bands every night at two town centers. Just another world. La La land for adults.
Best wishes George & Josie Eckle
