Puzzle 7 - Treasure Map

Puzzle: Mr. Davis hands teams a piece of paper with a triangle that is overlayed on top of a map of the school. There are some encouraging words on the puzzle… but is there something more?

Few teams have been able to put all pieces together and get to this point, and you’re one of them. Congratulations on making it this far! At some points, you might feel like giving up. But, like before, you’ll eventually realize how everything lines up.

All hunts need a treasure map. Your final prize is just around the corner, but first you must decipher where it is. After a long look at the map below, you suddenly glimpse into where the prize must be. Where do you go?

[Solution: Teams needed to play around with some points that they can generate using the two triangles. Eventually, they will notice that the orthocenter, the centroid, and the circumcenter all line up, generating an Euler line. The Euler lines of the two triangles intersect at the Media Center. ]

Hint 1: Try backtracking more when working with maps. You may have missed something.

Hint 2: Playing around with geometry is a great mental exercise, regardless of where you are.

Hint 3: Contrary to intuition, a triangle has many centers.
