El tema de la mujer en la Primera Epístola a los Corintios es la razón por la que Pablo de Tarso se ganó la reputación de misógino. Es difícil imaginar que el apóstol que predica la igualdad de los seres humanos en el cristianismo en Gálatas 3:28 pueda ser tan duro con el tema de la mujer. Este artículo examina 1Cor 11:2-16 y 1Cor 14:33 b-35 en el contexto del siglo I dC. La primera partese centra en la situación de las mujeres judías frente a las greco-romanas. La segunda trata de la afirmación igualitaria en Gal 3.28 con respecto a la solicitud de que las mujeres lleven velo (1Cor11:2-16) y guarden silencio durante la adoración (1Cor 14:33 b-35). A la luz de estas reflexiones, se observa que, aunque Pablo no es un promotor del feminismo, sí que aboga por la igualdad de los sexos, razas e individuos dentro de la comunidad cristiana.
