The Web

Located in a non-descript office somewhere in Arizona, the Web is a small construct which oversees intelligence and investigative activities within the state. The Construct is composed of 5 Enlightened Agents with a handful of unenlightened support staff, the office lack both the manpower and the resources to do more than monitor. Orders from on high are to monitor Reality Deviants and report their activities, but as long as nothing openly is done to undermine the Paradigm or threaten civilian life, these people are left to their own devices.

In the meantime, the Construct actively investigates crimes involving the supernatural, attempting to neutralize problems before they can develop.

To help with its mission, the Web is home to one of the few advanced AI systems: Sentinel. The system monitors news, television, law enforcement, social networks, etc looking for any outliers requiring investigation.

Samantha Johanson

Agent Johanson is the new station chief of the Web, recently promoted and transferred from New York. Although on paper it might appear that assignment to such a small office is a step down career wise, she has been given the freedom to focuses on whichever investigations she feel merits the groups limited resources, with the promise that positive results will be rewarded with more support.

A trained psychologist and criminal profiler, Agent Johanson has served as an investigator, intelligence and counter intelligence officer, and a social engineering specialist. She brings with her a degree of expertise that has made the New World Order feared across the Awakened world.

Robert McNally

McNally is a career agent, and aspires to be the guy who gets things done. He's not interested in advancement or recognition. He solves problems, stops bad guys, and makes the world safer. McNally's a new arrival to Phoenix, but feels his work is cut out for him with the growing strength of the different supernatural factions in the city, and the dangers in the desert with an unknown sleeper beneath the sands.

Oscar Stanfield is a broken man. While investigating a cabal of Nephandi, he was captured and tortured for days by the group hoping to learn the Technocracy Agents and known Tradition mages residing in the state. He never broke, and his heroism saved the lives of not only the Enlightened/Awakened, but their families as well. However, his mind never fully recovered despite the best efforts of the NWO. He suffers from nightmares, has become addicted to anxiety medication, and now suffers from a sadistic streak as he tries to hurt others before they can hurt him. Johanson is currently evaluating Stanfield, and is considering “retiring” the Agent.

Unlike Agent Johanson, Maya’s career reached a dead end when she came to Arizona. Working at a small and struggling Construct, until recently her assignments were to observe and report, with no opportunity to distinguish herself. Much of her effort is spent babysitting her partner Oscar, and ensuring that he does not snap and start shooting up random Civilians. And while she is completely loyal to her partner, she also resents the fact that his behavior often damages her reputation and career.
