Persons of Interest

People of note within Phoenix: Both Supernatural and normal human, these are people who do not belong to any specific faction within Phoenix but nevertheless have become known within the Community.

Jeremiah “Juggler” Demakis

Gambler, Avid Bowler, Manager of the Triple X Bowling Alley, Seer/Prophet

Juggler lives on the fringes of the Phoenix Community, and for the most part in an unknown, which is how he likes it. He is a very close friend of Nicholas Mathewson of Phoenix Rising, Holly Snow of Serenity Valley, and Noah Ellis of the Ravenscore crime family. These close allies offer Juggler protection from parties who might be interested in obtaining their own private Seer.

Unlike most Seers, Juggler has complete control over his ability to see into the future. He can travel down the roads of time, choose which forks to turn on, and see where they lead. This makes his predictions unusually specific, but at a cost of fragility. Free will makes it quite easy for people to avoid the futures he sees, and sometimes just knowing about them is enough to make a change.

Juggler is happy to offer his help to anyone who walks through his door and asks. The fact that they found him suggests real need. He asks for nothing in return, but will always steer people in the direction he thinks best, not necessarily the direction they want. Some might accuse him of arrogance or hubris, but he replies that it isn't hubris to have a larger view of life. If he can prevent something bad from happening, he won't do nothing.

Julia St. Gabriel - DECEASED

Sorceress/Hedge Magician, Literature Professor, Mortal Descendant of House Tremere

Julia St. Gabriel was a member of Maison Libre, a faction of Hedge Magicians that trace their origins to the Order of Hermes and House Tremere. A Professor of Literature at Arizona State University, she met and fell in love with Nicholas Mathewson. The relationship was one both Maison Libre and Phoenix Rising did not approve of, but the couple ignored repeated instructions from their Elders and continued seeing each other

Further complicating the relationship, her soon-to-awaken chantrymate, Michelle Wu, had confessed her love for Julia, a love Julia could not return. Not the way Michelle desired.

Popular on campus, she frequently "crossed swords" with a fellow professor and another hedge magician: Richard Trask. The two rivals initially respected each other, but in later years the animosity between the two started to grow. Trask would often cultivate young undergrads into disciples and followers, not unlike a cult leader, something that Julia found abhorrent. When she began to try and rescue students from his influence, the conflict between the pair escalated.

Before the two could come to blows, Julia was murdered by a former lover, Rick Santoro. Slitting her throat, Santoro then framed his rival Mathewson for the crime.

The murder of St. Gabriel still resonates to this day. Nicholas and his apprentice, Michelle Wu, both loved and cared for Julia and grieve for her every day.

If a person can be measured by the love and memories they leave behind, then Julia St. Gabriel was truly a good person, full of love and life, and the world is less because of her absence.

Ivo Shandor

Photographer, Performance Artist, Monster

Within the world of art and high society, Ivo Shandor is seen as a postmodern photographer and performance artist whose work pushes the boundaries of societal norms to challenge the viewer to perceive the world in unexpected ways. His portraits and stills can be found in small art galleries and private collections around the world. These works can be incredibly difficult to come by. When one is available for purchase it’s always learned by rumor and word of mouth.

To view a Shandor is always a memorable experience, and those who are “fortunate” enough to be invited to a viewing often walk away changed.

His performance art is equally . . . disturbing. Again, rumors will circulate of a special performance, and those who arrive have no way of knowing whether they are going to be part of the audience or part of the performance.

There is a dark side to Shandor. Within certain circles there are rumors that his live performances can often involve mutilation, torture, or murder. Strange disappearances have been attributed to his photography, with stories of people locking themselves away in insane asylums or simply disappearing. Sometimes, rumor has it, these people might turn up in a new still.

The man himself is a mystery. No one has ever met Ivo Shandor, though people will claim to know people who have. Within the occult, he is considered one of the most dangerous men in the world, if he even exists.
