Human Name: Raven Decker
Garou Name: Lucid Nonsense
Tribe: Shadow Lord
Auspice: Philodox
Duties: In many ways, Raven/Legal is the public face of her pack. As skilled attorney, she represents the Upstarts interests before the Camarilla or the Ravenscore Crime family. She's the point person with contacts within much of the city government, and sees to it that the packs assets and interests are hidden in a maze of dummy corporations and shelf companies. But her true talents is as a criminal defense attorney. The pack recognizes that her efforts to serve underrepresented populations can only strengthen it in the long run, so Gunn actively supports Raven's efforts to help her clients as long as she remembers her first priority is with the Pack.
Burden: A flock of ravens is often referred to as a misfortune. Although her parents have never said to anyone, this is how they see their middle child, a misfortune. The result of a rough patch in the marriage of two people who were and are crazy in love and wanted to create the perfect family. Her parents briefly separated, and her father became involved with another woman. Raven's biological mother died in child birth so her father and his true love raised her as their own, but she remained a reminder of the moment of weakness in a fairy tale relationship. Raven was always well cared for, and never abused, but neither was she ever loved. She grew up feeling inadequate and unwanted, and no matter how much she succeeded it was never enough. Joining the Upstarts gave Raven a family she never knew before, and for the first time she felt safe. Her growing relationship with Nicholas Mathewson has begun to turn her drive to succeed into a healthier direction, one more focused on personal growth rather than outside acceptance. However, the doubt and insecurity may never leave.
Prized Possession: Old VHS Copy of Star Wars: Raven remembers when her parents first took her to see the original Star Wars when she was a little girl. It was the first time she saw a strong woman on screen holding her own against the boys. A princess that didn't take shit from anyone. A New Hope would inspire Raven to ignore gender roles and the judgement of others and to reach for her dreams, something both of her parents encouraged. When she's having a bad day, or when the battle against the Wyrm seems to be hopeless, it's not unusual for the warrior to break out the old tape and watch it in front of the TV with a big bowl of popcorn and maybe a glass of wine.
Drive: To be part of the Garou Nation is to dedicate oneself to fight the Wyrm. For Raven, this means hopelessness and injustice, helping people who might be ground up beneath the vast machine of an indifferent society that values monetary gain and efficiency over human life. Like so many of her idols from comic books and Geek culture, she strives to be the hero fighting the forces of evil, whether its tearing into hired muscle for Pentex or standing before a judge to fight for someone who made a mistake against a system without mercy. Raven wants to believe in happy endings, and she fights hard to deliver them.
Pride: Raven has developed a reputation in Legal circles as someone to be taken seriously. A detailed oriented litigator, when she walks into a room allies are filled with renewed confidence and opponents begin to sweat. It's a reputation she has worked hard to develop and build, one that allows her to serve both her pack and her clients effectively.
Relationship with the Garou: Although not an Alpha, Raven has repeatedly proven herself a part of the pack, both on the battlefield and off. She's tight with Gravedigger, as their skills compliment each other, but she gets along with her Pack as a whole well. She's represented the interests of the other Garou packs as well, claiming Renown from them for successfully resolving issues, though the other packs aren't quite sure how she does it.
Relationship with the Community: Because she's one of the few lawyers who are part of the Community, Raven sometimes finds herself with Supernaturals for clients, and while she will occasionally accept these cases, she prefers to help people less able to help themselves. Nevertheless, she's collected quite a few favors over the year, which benefits her Pack as much as it does her.
Close Relationships: Raven has recently begun a romantic relationship with the Mage Nicholas Mathewson. Both are ambitious professionals who seek to excel in their chosen fields and actively seek out personal challenges. What began as a game of one-upmanship has evolved into a more substantive relationship as each introduces the others to new experiences and opportunities they might not have tried before.
The Upstart Alpha, Hand Me a Gun and Ask Me Again, is actively encouraging the relationship. The pack's Totem has predicted that a union of these two has an equal chance of producing either a Mage or a Garou, either of which could greatly aide the pack. Signs and portents smile on the pair, indicating that in this life the two of them will help bring out the best in each other.
Raven is unaware of any of this. She enjoys her time with Nick but has made no long term plans or expectations, prefering to let the tides of life lead her where they may.
