BACKGROUNDS

Status (Traditions): Collin is one of the few remaining Sentinels of the Traditions. When the Tradition Council was first formed, Sentinels functioned as a combination law enforcement and diplomat that worked to maintain peace among the new allies. As time went on and the Council matured, the office of Sentinel became less and less important. Today there are perhaps two dozen Sentinels traveling the world as messengers, representatives, and enforcers.

Status (Police): Collin is a U.S. Marshall, giving him jurisdiction in every state in the country as well as a number of U.S. territories. Though his authority covers a large geographic area, the scope of his powers is limited, requiring a degree of creativity to sometimes justify his actions.

Dark Fate: Collin is fated to go to war with his brother Allen, a mage with the Cult of Ecstacy. This conflict cannot end until one of them dies.

Code of Honor: Collin’s family traces its history back to colonial Georgia. Members of his family fought in every major war including the American Revolution and the Civil War. Collin has been brought up with the importance of proper behavior, and has been instilled with a Code of Honor that mixes Southern Hospitality/Chivalry with Military Etiquette. This includes:

- Proper treatment of a Lady

- Respect for Gentlemen and Elders

- Honesty in one’s dealings with others

- Honoring one’s obligations and debts

Bad Rep: To read about his exploits on paper, Collin seems to be the worst American stereotype of a police officer there is, with numerous complaints of excessive force and violence. He comes across as someone who is quick to draw his gun and prefers to bring suspects to the morgue rather than court.

People who have worked with him have been insistent that what’s written does not fairly represent the truth of these events. Nevertheless, many people judge Collin on a static description of past events without considering the context of those events.

Artifact: 9mm Glock –“Wynnona” – Collin acquired his 9mm while serving as an Army Ranger in Somalia during Bill Clinton’s administration. He seized the gun from a dead militiaman, and it’s history prior to that is a mystery to him. The moment he took the weapon into his hands it felt right to him, and it has been at his side ever since. Wynonna is an Arete 3 Artifact with 2 effects:

1. Speed draw – Pulling Wynona from her holster is an automatic action, allowing the wielder to draw and shoot without penalty.

2. Judges of Ma’at –Mind 2, Entropy 1 - Judge of Ma’at creates a near death experience in which a victim stands before the Judges of the afterlife and face judgment. Difficulty is 6 and for every success a person who has lived a life of sin loses 1 WP while a person who has lead a good life gains a WP. Additional effects are role-played through as this experience is bound to be both traumatic and life changing. Although the gun does appear to fire, no physical harm is done to the victim.

PARADIGM

Collin is a servant of Ma’at and an agent of divine justice and universal balance. When a person is the victim of a crime, or subject to evil, the song of their soul becomes discordant and the universal balance is disturbed. Delivering justice restores the balance to one’s soul, promoting universal harmony and bringing Ascension to the world.

FOCI

Badge – The badge is the symbol of the Law and a representation of man imposing order on the chaotic world to insure harmony. It also represents a responsibility to protect those who seek the protection of the Law, and wish to live in peace with their neighbors. Just as knight of old defended farmers from the Vikings, those who carry the badge protect citizens from those who would also seek to rape and pillage.

9 mm Glock – “Wynonna” – Without strength, the law becomes meaningless. Strength is needed to protect those who seek to live within the law and accepts its promise of peace as well as punish those who would violate the law. The gun represents the strength behind the badge and the power to enforce the law.

Swastika (Hindu) – Before it was twisted, the Swastika was an ancient Indian symbol representing mercy, and is found in many traditional settings. Collin has adopted the Swastika as his Foci to remind him that the Law without Mercy is tyranny. To become too focused on the Law is to risk becoming blind to an injustice one seeks to fight.
