Daniel de Montepellier

Order of Hermes barrabi, - House Tremere, Walker on the Long Road, The Grinning Man, Disciple of the Black Pharaoh, Servant of the Faceless God

Daniel de Montepellier was a a powerful adept and rising star within House Tremere and the Order of Hermes when the leadership of his House moved to convert all of Tremere's disciples into vampires in an effort to escape the Order of Reason's paradigm. Away on a diplomatic mission to the King of France when the blood mages struck his chantry, Daniel's wife was embraced, her Avatar screaming as it died.

Daniel evaded the Tremere for years, and when House Flambeau and Tytalus marched on the blood mages after the entire House was Renounced, he used the chaos of war to spirit his wife away and hide her someplace safe.

Daniel became convinced that reversing the curse was impossible, but perhaps Tremere's spell could be completed. To do so he would need knowledge and power, and sought that power from any source he could. It was while he was in Russia that he fell under the tutelage of the Black Pharaoh and swore his soul to the Faceless God. Daniel became Nephandus.

Today he believes he is close to his goal of completing Tremere's spell and achieving apotheosis. Over the centuries, the work itself has become the goal, and the unlimited power it promises. But even now, as he nears the end, enemies gather.

A small group of Acolytes and Adepts guarding a node of limitless power thwart him, and if he is to succeed he will need access to that node. His apprentice, who has helped make his dreams of apotheosis possible, has begun to question him. But what worries him most is a possible rival, something which will rise in the West. He knows nothing about this rival save its name: the Basilisk.

Emilianna Lancaster

Chorister barrabi, Apprentice of Daniel de Montepellier , High Priestess of Zyras the All-Consuming, Servant of Oblivion

Emilianna Lancaster is above all else a woman of absolute and unshakeable Faith. It is the one thing Daniel de Montepllier has never been able to strip from her despite his best efforts.

Emilianna was once an Acolyte at Phoenix Rising, optimistic but naive, she had an open heart and an absolute love for all things Disney: especially Mickey Mouse. When Daniel infected her with the Seed of the Void, he corrupted her soul and robbed her of the choice of whether or not to follow the Left-Hand path.

Emilianna spent many years under Daniel's tutelage and learned much, but it was on a mission for him that he was approached by Servants of the Malfean Zyras and shown the ultimate inevitability of all creation: Oblivion. Zyras reached into Emilianna's soul and gave her something that Daniel never could - something to believe in.

Emilianna has embraced the Gospel of Oblivion and now preaches the nihilism that forms the central tenets of Nephandus belief. Nothing matters because in the end we will all be nothing. Creation is a meaningless accident. Free will a series of random events made possible by chemicals in the meat one calls a brain.

She is educated, personable, and well spoken and is frighteningly good at drawing in people to embrace her diseased worldview.

Because she never chose the Left Handed path, some have begun to wonder if maybe she could be saved. If so, she would be a powerful ally.

Richard Trask

Hedge Magician, College Professor, Cult Leader - Epic Charisma (6)

What Richard Trask lacks in power he makes up for in personality, ambition, and the devotion of the people who follow him, young and impressionable people who are willing to die in his name.

Trask views Nicholas Mathewson as a rival, and there is a history between the two men and Julia St. Gabriel. He wages a whisper campaign against the Caesar, but any time such efforts start to show results they are brushed aside by Nick's talents as a Mind mage.

Ultimately, Trask is a thorn in the side of Phoenix Rising. He's too weak to be considered an actual threat, but enough of a public figure that he can't be dealt with permanently. He's more of a danger to the mundanes Phoenix Rising cares about, as well as his own followers, but no action has been taken against him.

Coffin

Eddie "The Coffin Filler" Falcone was an enforcer for the Ravenscore crime family when his brother was arrested for selling drugs at local schools. This alone would have been a death sentence for the man, but police used him to try and flip Eddie against the Ravenscore family.

Although Eddie had refused to cooperate, his Captain saw no point in taking chances and the man was assassinated. The man refused to go peacefully, even in death. As a Wraith he began to Haunt his former family, but with the help of his Shadow Eddie clawed his way out of the Underworld and back into his corpse, digging his way out of his grave.

Going simply by the name Coffin, Eddie hires himself to the highest bidder, collecting money, favors, and even instruction in vampiric disciplines as he systematically hunts down his former associates, killing them in new and inventive ways.

Minerva

7th Generation Toreador, Childe of Sire Wenceslas, member of the Children of Isaac

Minerva was embraced in the mid 15th century during the Renaissance by her Sire as canon fodder against the Founders of the Camarilla. Like many peasant women during Renaissance Europe her only value was the labor she provded in the kitchen and the pleasure in bed when she spread her legs.

Oh how things have changed. With the help of the surviving childer from that first night, the Children of Isaac have waged a global war against their sires, the Giovanni, the Setites, and factions within the Sabbat. The ultimate goal of the Children is unknown, just as its unknown for a coterie of neonates to remain loyal to one another through the many centuries of existence.

Minderva came to Phoenix a decade ago and quickly began building her power base.

She is moving to seize Praxis from Prince Jameson. Her short term goal seems to be a material powerbase from which she can move forward with the Children's agenda. Although she is a generous patron of the arts, she is also collecting knowledge of the occult focusing on the Underworld and the dead. Her ultimate agenda is a mystery to all.

Silas Ravenscore

Don of the Ravenscore Crime Syndicate, Epic Intelligence (6)

Silas Ravenscore is a man with a vision. He sees a future for the Ravenscore Crime Family on a global level, influence not just people but governments, nations, and perhaps the powers behind the throne. Under his leadership the family has become the bankers of the underworld, offering their services of money laundering, portfolio management, and investment services.

The Ravenscore help Elder's modernize their portoflios, Werewolves invest in Earth friendly companies, and Mages avoid traps of the Syndicate. All this while still managing the funds of drug cartels and criminal syndicates.

Silas' ultimate plans are unknown. He has connections to Phoenix's Mage community through Holly Snow and Nicholas Mathewson, both of whom have a tendecy to look the other way to the man's activities but never explain why. Although he has no power of his own, he's managed to create a seat at the table within the Phoenix Community, and people have begun to realize that there is a great deal more to this man than everybody thinks.
