The Technocratic Union (Technocracy)
Within the World of Darkness, the Technocracy is the 800 pound gorilla that sits wherever it wants. It’s Pogrom drove both the Traditions and the Crafts underground, stripping them of most overt power in the world. Their Artificial Intelligences can out think and out plot the oldest, craftiest of vampires. And their constructs can rip apart Garou packs like they were tissue paper.
Today the Technocracy is a wounded dragon. When it was discovered that the Syndicate, Mages focused on finance and resources, had been infiltrated by the Nephandi and were cooperating with Pentex, the Convention was purged from the Union and the bulk of its members exterminated.
The loss of the Syndicate means the Technocracy is now without its Quartermaster. Although the Syndicate did not itself invent or design the HIT Marks, Void Ships, or Grey Men, the Convention was responsible for marshalling the resources everyone else needed in pursuit of a common cause. Without the Syndicate, the remaining conventions scramble for limited resources as conflicting agendas lead to paralysis.
This loss, however, does not change the reality that the Technocratic Union is an idle dragon, and when stirred it has demonstrated an ability to work with a frightening unity and purpose that will sweep away anything in its path. The Camarilla and Sabbat, the Garou Nation, Pentex – these things exist because for now the Technocracy allows it. If the Union had reason, it’s uncertain whether any of these groups would survive when all the Traditions and Crafts could do was hang on.
