Totem: Bison - Patience, Survival, War
Description: Description: The Quiet Thunder pack is larger than any other single pack in Maricopa County, though it lacks the power and prestige to assume the mantle of leadership. Composed primary of Uktena, Wendigo, and Red Talons the pack is composed of hardline Traditionalists who chafe at the Sept’s acceptance of the Community in Phoenix and their tolerance of the Upstarts.
Much to the surprise of visiting Red Talons, Lupis Garou descended from European stock find no more of a welcome with this pack than European Homid Garou. The Red Talons of Quiet Thunder will welcome a Homid Native Wolf and accept them as brother long before they accept a European Wolf.
Quiet Thunder formed in the years following World War I. Led by the Red Talon Silence Before the Kill, Lupis from across North America were lead to the desert of Arizona. Silence sought out specifically Red Wolf and Mexican Wolf Garou, along with Wendigo and, after much debate, Uktena. Welcomed by Desert Morning, they joined the Desert Shadow Sept to help defend the unusual Caern from the Worm of the Sands.
For most of its history relations have been good. Several packs have come and gone, but the local Wolf population is stable, and with the help of local Native American populations the Red Talons have managed to secure a niche for themselves that has allowed them to slow the decline of their numbers.
Things started to change with the arrival of Coyote Skull, as the nomad pack’s help was desperately needed to defend the caern, but their aggressive move to expand their own territory came at the expense of Quiet Thunder. Open fighting was inevitable until the Upstarts arrived, giving both Quiet Thunder and Coyote Skull a common enemy.
Today, Quiet Thunder advocates for the purging of the Upstarts from Maricopa County as they work to count coup against Coyote Skull. The wolves of Quiet Thunder are among the most skilled hunters in the Sept. Recent changes in laws have allowed local Native American Tribes to begin building casinos and start projects to revitalize their communities, and much of that money ends up being funneled to help preserve and grow local wolf populations.
But in the end, Quiet Thunder recognizes that they need the aide of those they despise if the pack and the tribes its formed from are to survive. The insistence of Desert Morning that their Alpha be Native, even as the rest of the pack is more diverse, has earned them the loyalty and support of Quiet Thunder.
Name: Patient for the Kill
Tribe: Red Fang
Auspice: Theurge
Leader of the Quiet Thunder Pack, Patience has followed the unusual path (for a Red Fang) and has chosen to embrace Native Garou regardless of breed (Lupis, Homid, or even Metis) over Lupis Red Fangs of European decent. More than any other pack, the Quiet Thunder embrace the Traditions of the past, and hold the upstarts in contempt.
But Patience recognizes that while the Upstarts are obvious rivals, there is no direct competition between the two packs. This is not the case with Coyote Skull, so while Quiet Thunder argues against We Blame Our Parents, most of their effort is focused on counting coup against Coyote Skull.
