IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THOSE WHO HAVE GONE TO A VIRGINIA DOCTOR FOR LYME TESTING. When a doctor practicing in the State of Virginia orders a test for Lyme disease, he/she is required by Law to give the patient a disclosure which clearly states that Lyme disease testing is unreliable and a negative test does not mean the patient does not have Lyme disease. UNFORTUNATELY, there are many Virginia doctors who are not abiding by the Law and patients are not being informed that their negative test results do not mean they don't have Lyme.
NatCapLyme is currently working on this legislative issue and THEY NEED VIRGINIA PATIENTS to contact them if they received a Lyme disease test, ordered by a Virginia doctor, and did not receive the required disclosure. Here is the request for information from NatCapLyme:
In 2013, the Commonwealth of Virginia passed the Lyme Disease Testing Information Disclosure Act. This groundbreaking law requires health care providers to disclose in writing to those being tested for Lyme disease the fact that testing can be problematic and that standard laboratory tests often result in a false negative outcome.
Sadly, too many health care providers are still not providing this information, and, therefore, not following the law.
If you, or someone you know, were tested for Lyme disease during the past two years and not given, in writing, the required disclosure as described above, we want to hear from you as soon as possible, preferably no later than the end of this week.
Please call NatCapLyme at 703-821-8833 or email natcaplyme@natcaplyme.org. You may also call 703-346-1885.
IF THIS APPLIES TO YOU, please respond immediately. Thank you!

Elizabeth Smith This disease has been recognized for long enough that there ought to be a reliable test, and a reliable vaccine (there is one for dogs).

Fran Rivera I was on antibiotics for 10 days, but the lasting side effects has been very painful, and my dr won't give me the medicine that works for me. So I suffer with pain, but not no more I research Tick borne diseases supplements and they help me a lot.

Laura Courtney Thomas One tick bite changed my entire life and many doctors and others have treated me like a lying piece of garbage. Someone needs to advocate for us. We suffer alone.
