Oppose SB 926- Some of the Reasons To Oppose SB 926
The Attempt to "Fix-It" Bill in Virginia- Will Maryland be next if this bill passes?
With Maryland Lyme Disease Support Groups, patients and doctors OPPOSING HB 399 & its companion bill, SB 926, NatCapLyme in Washington DC is still making efforts to push their bad Virginia bill in Maryland.
After admitting their original 2013 Virginia bills about doctors handing out a slip of paper saying Lyme tests may not be accurate had problems and was not effective in Virginia, another bill was submitted in Virginia in 2016 to reverse the original bill and try to FIX those problems.
The Virginia FIX-IT bill, SB 962, never stood a chance and was killed immediately, leaving Virginia stuck with DC's bad bills.
Does Maryland really need these same bad Lyme disease bills too? Do we really need to anger doctors across the State by forcing all of them to do what they (and we) REALLY don't think legislation has a right to do?
And if someone is going to represent the DC group in Maryland and promote their Virginia bill here, maybe next time they can get the bill number right when announcing their plans.
Anne Arundel County Chapter of NatCapLyme
Monthly Support Group Meeting, Saturday, February 20th.
We are thrilled to have two speakers lined up for Saturday, one to discuss the new Lyme bill in the Maryland General Assembly and a second speaker on the importance of eating a healthy diet for those diagnosed with a chronic illness.
Jennifer Robins, who was diagnosed with Lyme and several autoimmune conditions, was gravely ill and mostly bedridden. When traditional medical treatments failed to help her, she turned to food for healing.
Removing grain, dairy, refined sugars and eating “predominately Paleo,” she started to reclaim her life. To learn more about Jennifer and her journey, please join us. Check out her website is www.perdominatlypaleo.com for her blog, books and her amazing recipes!
NatCapLyme’s Legislative Counsel Susan R. Green, will talk about HB 926, which if signed into law, would require health care providers to notify their patients in writing, when testing them for Lyme disease, that current laboratory testing for Lyme is problematic and that the tests can produce a false negative.
Green worked tirelessly to get the groundbreaking law, “The Lyme Disease Testing Disclosure Act” passed in Virginia in 2013. Green will offer her insight and expertise to Maryland citizens on steps they can take to get this bill passed for their state.
When: February 20 from 2-4 p.m.
Where: Belcher Pavilion, Anne Arundel Medical Center
Hope to see you there!
