Greetings NatCapLyme members and friends,

Maryland Delegate Susan Lee (District 16) is seeking support in the form of your testimony for her Lyme Awareness bill HB1168 to be heard on March 6th at 1:00p.m. in Annapolis, MD. You may view the bill Here:

NatCapLyme supports HB1168 as it will permanently designate May of 2012, and all succeeding years, as:

Lyme Disease Awareness Month in Maryland

HB1168 will benefit the citizens of Maryland by officially recognizing the problem of Lyme and Tick-borne diseases, encourage Marylanders to learn about these diseases, treat them seriously, take aggressive prevention measures and seek early treatment.

We urge our members to prepare written and/or oral testimony, to be presented on March 6 to the Health and Government Operations Committee. The hearing will be held in room 240 of the House Office Building. Hearings start at 1:00p.m., and there will be several bills being heard that day.

Speakers are limited to no more than 3 minutes. Written testimony should include name, contact information, affiliation if any, and the name of the bill prominently at the top, as well as “Support” next to it. HGO committee requires 35 copies of the testimony, which must be submitted to the committee by noon on March 6. We recommend that you bring 40 copies available so that you will have a few extra to hand out. You must include include the name and number of the bill, "Commemorative Months - Lyme Awareness Month HB1168," prominently at the top!

If you cannot make it by noon, please e-mail Susan.Lee@house.state.md.us to let them know AND attach your testimony so that they can print the 35 copies to submit.

Also, please be prepared to be asked to testify in panels.
