You've gone bill crazy! There are over a dozen bad Lyme related bills submitted for this ONE session (2018).
UPDATE- June 8, 2018- ANOTHER LYME BILL- FOR A VACCINE!
With these bills everything surrounding Lyme and tick borne diseases are being gift wrapped and handed directly to the NY Health Commissioner (Howard Zucker- attorney and doctor) who has strong ties to Johns Hopkins, Mass General, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, NIH and Boston's Children's Hospital (see his bio here).
These are the WORST PLACES in the country for Lyme patients and have been since day one... so I've got to ask WHATS GOING ON IN NEW YORK?
With these bills you are allowing the NY Health Commissioner who spearheads efforts to limit the use of antibiotics in order to control antimicrobial resistance (the antibiotics we need to survive) to have complete control over our treatment, our lives and our futures.
The Commissioner is someone who oversees ALL hospitals, ALL long-term care facilities, ALL nursing homes and the ENTIRE NY HEALTH CARE WORKFORCE in New York. Good luck getting a treating doctor when the Health Commissioner has control over them.
The Commissioner is also in charge of ALL NY Health Departments and if these bills pass he will be in charge of handing all of the grant money for Lyme disease education in NY and determining what will be taught and which facilities will be special designated as being a Lyme Disease "Center of Excellence".
These bills passing will leave ALL OF US at the mercy of people who have fought us every step of the way, blocked our progress, nailed our doctors and left us all suffering for over 4 decades!
And, New York, you have absolutely NO measures in place to prevent the Commissioner from doing anything and everything the IDSA/CDC, Wormser, et. al. <<< his buddies- want him to do.
It appears your advocates and doctors aren't paying attention to what's going on, don't understand the consequences and/or are not letting residents know what is happening and how dangerous these bills are. I see nothing online about trying to stop these bills. This situation has got to change immediately!
I highly recommend you contact your local NY groups IMMEDIATELY and find out what is being done to kill these bad bills BEFORE they pass. I don't know who is pushing or supporting these bills. I only know who pushed bad bills in the past in NY. You will have to ask your local advocates.
