The "UT99.org XMas 2012 mapping contest" was a "just for fun and bragging rights" competition organized by some folks at UT99.org open to all community mappers of the original Unreal Tournament. The contest was to create a map that combined a Christmans theme (snow, winter, xmas trees, santa claus, etc) with an "Epic" twist - that being to modify or combine recognizable Epic Games content or designs from Unreal or UT to create new maps.

The gametypes allowed were CTF, DM or MH. These RULES were initially voted by participating mappers but were not strictly enforced - so the maps produced met the conditions to various degrees. Not surprisingly, most of the maps submitted were Deathmatch maps, then there were a couple of CTF maps but unfortunately, no Monsterhunt maps.

Interestingly, there was a single Jailbreak map, and a pretty good one at that :) In the end there were 12 contestants and a very diverse collection of maps. The maps were then submitted to a reviewer to judge and at the same time a popular vote was held, the results of both yielded the winning map...
