Agenda - Decisions and Action Items

Treasurer Update

Shereen mentioned for any reimbursements please use the Wavemakers website. Hold receipts and give to Shereen, or Anika as she is managing the girls team this season. Boys captains practice is booked and will be paid by Wavemakers when the Community Ed invoice us. Captains practice is covered by Wavemakers for all teams.

Girls Team Update

New Assistant Coach found.

Some issue with the mixer on the microphone for the meets.

New mixer costs about $40 on Amazon, they usually last about 4 years. Jon moved to purchase a new mixer, Shereen seconded and it was passed.

The microphone is also a little inconsistent and could use replacing at a cost of $100 from the timing company Colorado. Jon moved to purchase a new microphone and Dominick seconded, all passed.

Dean will order both of these.

Vacant Team Rep Positions

Following last month's meeting, the By Laws demand each of the team, Girls, Boys and Synchro, each provide a Representative to attend Wavemaker Meetings. Dominick said he is happy to take on the boys team rep role, also Laura for the synchro, Amy for the girls team. They will vote for and be a voice for the teams. We need to amend the By Laws to ensure that as well as parent/guardian, athlete and a coach can be permitted to serve as Team Rep. Also that they can nominate a proxy in their absence in order to vote on matters. Shereen nominated this to change and Bridget seconded. All passed.

Dean will work on changing this wording.

Old Business

Hospitality Tote

Tote is full and ready for the girls team to use, Amy is in charge of this for the girls team.

Fundraisers

Orders for the towels are starting to come in.

Ongoing with no deadline. Printed form order process only. Anika will work on a google form and will put it online. Other logos are available for a set up fee of $40. If teams need other logos, let Shereen know.

Meeting Dates

10/4, 11/11 & 12/6.

New Business

Hayley found out that Forest Lake Jimmy Johns offer a discount to high school teams orders. She will call them to ask for swim teams.

There is a Best Buy discount card, not sure it will be used but Shereen will keep it with the check book.

Allina Health donated $100, Shereen will write and thank them.

Walmart also might offer donations, Hayley will look into that. In the past we have received donations from Kwik Trip also.

Team Project

Looking at ideas to replace the banners with more of a ‘board’ listing the achievements of the teams. Laura will come up with an idea for Synchro and we can look at incorporating this to the swim teams to replace the hanging banners. Perhaps like the Northdale pool.

Elsewhere the pool could have more ‘Forest Lake’ theme decor.

Laura will submit something to look at by the next meeting and we can work from there.

Jon asked about the sustainability of the Booster club. Shereen explained last year we raised more than we spent. So this being the case, yes. Need more fundraising ideas, Epilepsy truck is good, we should look into one truck a year, the April date around Earth Day would be a good idea. Jenette would still be able to help with a location at the Legion.

Future Fundraising

Epilepsy truck - April date - Shereen will contact about this.

Butter Braid idea. Hayley will look into this as they are only available through fundraisers, unlike some other food based fundraising options.

Big Apple Bagels have done something for us in the past.

Dairy Queen was a good one - Shereen will book on the last day of school again.

AOB

Video Training

Laura would like training on the video/camera system. Dean will arrange this.

Recruitment

Laura expressed the need for a push on recruitment for the teams and how best to tie into the community. Boys team will have a presence and hope to promote the team at the Middle School open house. Shereen mentioned that before Covid they asked for Captains to visit the elementary schools. This needs to be an ongoing and positive effort to get the message out there about this great option for our school kids. Need ideas of how to team up with the pool management to join this effort.

Meeting adjourned 8:14pm.

Next Meeting - October 4th. Same venue.
