Wavemakers Meeting - 10/8/18

Held at Forest Lake Hardwood Creek Library in Conference Room - L14


Attendees: Joe Jarosz, Tara Thompson, Kim Jones, Brenda Anderson. Chris Thompson and Maggie Thompson attended via teleconference.

Meeting officially started at 7:04pm


1. Protocol for Team Expense Submissions -

The deposit and reimbursement form has been revised by Brenda and approved by Tara for future transactions. The form can be found on the Wavemakers website under the documents tab.


2. Parent Communication

ACTION: Brenda will be updating the flier on the website to include recent Wavemakers additions to the pool, in preparation for the last Girls home swim meet and parents night, as well as, the future Boys swim and dive team parent meeting.

ACTION: Brenda will continue to work on updating the MailChimp electronic mailing list.

3. Annual Dues

ACTION: Kim Jones will be forwarding a $10 annual fee per athlete to Wavemakers from team fund after Team Cub bagging fundraising event.


4. Girls and Boys Swim and Dive Team

ACTION: Joe will be in contact with Joe Mau, Boys head coach, regarding upcoming apparel order for 2018-19 season.


5. Officer Elections for 2018-2019

Joe Jarosz was nominated and approved by vote as Wavemakers President. Tara

Thompson will continue her position as Treasurer. Brenda Anderson will continue as

Secretary. The position of Vice President is currently an open position.


6. Boys Swim and Dive Team Award Banners

Award banners for swimming and diving achievements have been installed in the pool

area. Academic banners were not installed and are currently in the pool office. A storage place for the academic banners is being discussed.


7. Recruiting for Girls and Boys Teams

Discussion of recruiting opportunities for Girls and Boys teams in the future.




8. Podium Proposal from Northdale Middle School Pool

Northdale proposed to make a new podium for award ceremonies for True Team and Section Championships, as the current risers are no longer available for use. The proposal was asking for booster clubs of participating schools to contribute $150.00 per team. The proposal requests that Blaine and Coon Rapids fund a significant amount of $1200.00 each. The riser/podium would be stored and maintained at the Northdale Middle School pool. The project is proposed to be completed by the Girls’ team Section Championship at the earliest, and by Boys’ team True Team Section Championship, at the latest.

MOTION: For Wavemakers to contribute $300.00 toward the risers/podium project.

APPROVED: Kim Jones will be following up on the communication with Northdale Middle School.
