Wavemakers Meeting - 4/1/2019

Meeting officially started at 7:07pm


1. Record Board

Working on progress of record board, corrected name plates that were misspelled.

ACTION: Joe Jarosz reordered name plates for swim records.

ACTION: Jen agreed that new record plates would be installed as soon as they are received.


2. Synchro Update

Tara to be contact person for professional photos at synchro state meet. Wavemakers will provide check for initial deposit to receive state synchro pictures from professional photographer. Parents who are interested in professional photographs will pay Wavemakers to receive pictures.

ACTION: Waiting for detailed information from synchro state professional photographer.

3. Wavemakers Leukemia Fundraiser - Saturday, May 4

Leukemia fundraiser to be scheduled for May 4 to collect clothing and shoes. Collection truck can be parked at SW on Saturday. Volunteers from all aquatic teams can be scheduled for shifts during the day to receive collections at truck.

ACTION: Lucy Hunter to confirm with Leukemia Foundation.

ACTION: Advertising efforts

- Lucy and Ann to make postcards to be passed out to swimming lesson parents.

- Synchronized swimming girls to pass out postcards to synchro show advanced ticket buyers and friends and family, etc.

- Brenda to email information to Wavemakers contact list starting as soon as fundraiser is confirmed.

- Insert on Synchro Show advertisement fliers and newspaper.


4. Update Wavemakers MailChimp email list.

Jen emailed Mike Hennen and we received new updated email contact lists during meeting.

ACTION: Joe to update email contact list in MailChimp program.


5. Wavemakers fundraiser brainstorming

Jen had many more ideas for fundraising.

  • Pancake breakfasts

  • Wreath sales

  • Kohl’s - monetary donation and volunteer staff possible



6. Community Service Projects

Jen brought up valid point regarding aquatic teams participating in short term community projects. It was brought up that this is a positive activity for the teams to participate in and contributes to the community. It also helps the team to have a community presence. Examples included helping seniors with church packaging project.


7. Recruiting

New recruiting team started. Recruiting will take two forms, both as a whole aquatic group and as seperate teams. Recruiting efforts are scheduled for summer Arts in the Park, school carnivals, social media efforts, FLAMS events in August, and fliers to be emailed to parents of swimming lesson participants.

ACTION: Volunteers needed to man the Art in the Park tables.

ACTION: Needed - Synchro parent to commit to representing the Synchro team on the recruiting team and attend monthly meeting.
