Valley of the Gods, Aenea
-------------------------
The world of Aea encompasses many realms - the realm of Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Void. Between them all is Ki (sometimes spelled Key, or Chi): the realm of mortals where most of our story is set.
- The Realm of Air - Ruled by the jinn, this is the home of the current Lord of Aea. He is known by many names - Iopater, Jopadre, and Enlil are the best known. Originally Prince Ubal of a long-standing royal house, he achieved his position of supreme magnificence during a long war with the competing realms of Fire, Earth and Void through an alliance with the Realm of Water. His half-brothers Jerah and Nirgal respectively rule the realms of Water and Void.
- The Lord of Aea's throne is at Anapsis, a city between the realms of Air and Water from which all fresh waters flow.
- The Realm of Water -Ruled over by Lord Jerah. Jerah is associated with the Moon, and is worshiped as the supreme god by the desert-dwelling Arrideans. At his command is an army of beautiful and mighty marid - creatures of water who possess powerful magics.
- The Realm of Earth - Once this realm dominated all of Aea, but their powers were broken during the War of the Gods. These elementals take credit for the creation of both dwarves and giants in the lands of Ki. This realm is guarded by an elected monarch, Tuhgin, Lord of Stone and Iron.
- The Realm of Fire - This is a place perpetually ablaze, with great rivers of flame winding between molten canyons. The iffrit rule this place from great cities of brass. See: Onihime, Goddess of Fire and War for more information about the ruler of this fiery realm.
- The Void: All things which are are composed of the four elements- earth, air, fire and water. Void is that which is not - but this distinction is not to be understood as nothingness, as that which 'is not' encompasses that which once was, that which will be, and that which never shall be. Therefore it is a realm of possibility and impossibility, the realm of the imagined and the realm of the dead. All who deal in magic and the life of the mind draw from the power of Void.
- The former ruler of Void was a certain King Mot, who angered Prince Ubal by stealing away his wife Diove before they were to be wed. The resulting war broke the of balance of power in the realms, and now Mot lives in exile while King Nirgal rules in his stead from his throne in Irkalla.
- The Sub-realms: Many sub-realms exist where the paths of the five realms cross (making realms of ice, mud, lightning, etc.), but the greatest is that of Ki - a world where all of many elements meet. For more information about this complex realm and it's history see the Geography section of this wiki.

Creatures and devotees of elemental powers are generally 'aligned' to elemental forces (for a basic list of these forces or 'Paths' see CFG01001 Pg. 310). Certain of these alignments are intrinsically opposed - like Life and Death, Light and Darkness, Protection and Destruction, Order and Chaos, or Good and Evil.
Note that not all alignments will have an opposite or opposing number. War is not necessarily opposed to life, for example- sometimes it in fact will stand in it's service. Nor is Nature the opposite of Death- death is after all a part of nature as well.
Listed below are the major alignments of Aea with an opposed opposite:
- Air <-> Earth
- Fire <-> Water
- Light <-> Darkness
- Life <-> Death
- Good <-> Evil
- Order <-> Chaos
- Knowledge <-> Deceit
- Protection<-> Destruction
- Curses <-> Fortune
