Race: Human + Elf Blood (FCAC pg. 132)
The Nemedians or Nemedor are the children of Nemed the mariner, who traveled from the middle sea to the coast of Vistria during the Age of Legends.
Surviving the wreck of his ship, he was rescued by and fell in love with an elvish maiden who became his wife and mother to a new dynasty.
For many decades they lived side-by-side with the elves, while slowly supplanting them in spite of their limited lifespans due to a higher birthrate and the hardiness that came from their human heritage. Tested by the rising of Lord Toluk Disskald and his mighty armies, they arose triumphant with the aid of their Pech, Dwarf and Elvish allies.
At the close of the War of the Talisman the elves chose to leave to the western coast of Vistria rather than stay in competition with their half-kin, leaving the eastern coast to the children of Nemed. And for a time they thrived; even subduing the mighty Fomorians and trapping them seemingly forever in their island home behind an impenetrable veil of mists.
But when Nemed first proposed to take an elvish wife he was given a dire prophecy; although his children and grandchildren would have the strengths of both the Elves and Men, their children's children would only have the weaknesses of both.
And so the history of the Nemedians has this been a long decline from their initial triumphs; first losing their homes in the south to the invasions of the Quardith and Sullustrians, and then in the north to raiding Nornish settlers.
Now only the land of Byth and the city of Yr - the crown of their civilization- is left to them. In recent times even this last refuge is now challenged by the reemergence of the Fomor under the rule of the Sorceress Queen Nuala.
-------------------------
Even in their long and decadent decline the Nemedians are masters of the fine arts, craftsmanship and magic.
Not wanting to waste their precious lives in war or toil, they summon creatures from the Void that they call 'Boggarts' to serve as their slaves, servants and soldiers. Some rather fetching boggarts even serve as body-servants and lovers to their masters (the two terms are often interchangeable).
Ironically, many of the 'boggarts' that are summoned from the Void and bound to serve the Nemedians are in fact the spirits of Devi long ago cast into the Void, which means that they are the very ancestors of the Fomor that they count as their greatest and mortal enemies.
It's unlikely that this point is overlooked by the Fomorians themselves, which only increases the animosity between the two races.
