Tricks:
- Mix-Up: Once per round, when the character hasn’t taken the bull rush action during the last 3 rounds, he may take it and gain a +3 morale bonus with the first attack or skill check it requires.
- Shield Block: The character uses his shield to absorb what might otherwise be a solid hit. Once per round when the character has a readied shield and isn’t flat-footed, after he’s hit by an unarmed or melee attack but before damage is rolled, he may make a Fortitude save (DC equal to the attack check result). With success, the attack’s damage drops to 0 (though any special effects from the attack are still felt). The character may take this action a number of times per combat equal to the number of Melee Combat feats he has (min. 1).
Combat Feats/Abilities
- Shield Basics: You gain a +4 gear bonus when Bull Rushing with an armed shield. Also, you gain a stance.
- Phalanx Fighting (Stance): Each adjacent ally gains a +1 bonus to Defense and Reflex saves. This bonus increases to +2 when you wield a weapon with guard +2 or higher. The maximum bonus a character may gain from allies in this stance is +4.
Class and Origin abilities, Other Feats
- Grace Under Pressure: You gain a +2 bonus with any roll you boost with an action die.
- Adventurer's Luck: Each time your party rolls for treasure you may roll twice, keeping both results. This benefit only applies once per Treasure roll, no matter how many characters possess this feat.
- Glory-Bound: You may purchase Heroic Renown for 20 Reputation per rank (see page 187).
- More than Luck: You gain 1 additional starting action die.
- Friends All Over: You gain the Extra Contact feat. You may gain the Extra Contact feat a second time later, as your character options allow. Also, once per adventure you may spend 1d6 hours and 1 action die to summon one of your contacts, even if you’re nowhere near their residence, so long as there are at least 40 people within a 25-mile radius (e.g. a small swamp-side dock, a nomad camp in a vast desert, etc.)
- Tomb Raider: You’re familiar with all manner of dangerous locations — how to get in, and how to get out alive. At Level 1, each time you fail an Athletics or Search check and don’t suffer an error, you still succeed as long as the check DC (or your opponent’s check result) is equal to or less than your Class Level + 20. If several grades of success are possible, you achieve only the lowest possible positive result.
- Extra Contact: You gain the Extra Contact feat. You may gain the Extra Contact feat a second time later, as your character options allow. Also, once per adventure you may spend 1d6 hours and 1 action die to summon one of your contacts, even if you’re nowhere near their residence, so long as there are at least 40 people within a 25-mile radius (e.g. a small swamp-side dock, a nomad camp in a vast desert, etc.).
