The Void Gates

Found throughout the world of Ki, the Void Gates are ancient mystical structures that allow passages into and through the Void.

Legend has it that they were built by the Saurians during the age of legends as portals to traverse the worlds, and as shrines to communicate with their fearful draconic gods after they were banished to the Void by Qinghis and his followers.

Most have fallen into disrepair over the ages, but those structures that do still function can be used as a means of nigh-instant travel to corresponding gates in locations throughout the world.

This form of transport is best used only by the mystically attuned, the adventurous and/or foolish; the Void is the realm of the dead and creatures of dream and nightmares after all, and it is said that entering with an unfocused mind can bring about certain doom at the hands, claws, maws or tendrils of the unknown and unknowable horrors that lurk within that unfathomable realm.

Indeed, the places where these gates still do function are said to be fearsome places best avoided by the wise and the meek, as from time to time certain..things...emerge from these gates - things which are not meant for mortal eyes to see, or mortal ears to hear.
