The Conference
The ETHICOMP conference series was launched in 1995 by the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility (CCSR). The purpose of this series is to provide an inclusive forum for discussing the ethical and social issues associated with the development and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Conferences are held about every 18 months. There have been eleven previous conferences in Europe and beyond. Delegates and speakers from all continents have attended. Around 800 papers have been presented. Professor Terry Bynum and Professor Simon Rogerson are the founders and joint directors of the conference series, which is now overseen by a Steering Committee.
Objectives of ETHICOMP
* To provide a forum for the discussion of topical ethical and social issues associated with the use of ICT in business, government and society
* To connect with the research and practitioner communities in ethics and computing / information / ICT
* To promote and support the teaching of applied and professional ICT ethics
* To engage with public, private and civil society organisations to inform and support the development of ethical policy and practice in the use of ICT.
This Site
This google site is used to develop a steering committee for the ETHICOMP conference series. The idea is to provide a publicly available resource that will facilitate discussion and the development of appropriate structures and procedures to ensure that ETHICOMP continues to be successful and support the community of individuals interested in ethics and computing.
