Assessing whether your worry is problematic
As with most symptoms in mental health, problematic worry is a matter of degree. It isn't just the presence of worry that indicates a problem, but rather the frequency, severity, excessiveness, and uncontrollability of worry. The following quiz will help you determine whether your worrying is problematic. Check off each statement that reflects your experience with worry.
___ I worry most days.
___ I worry even when everything is ok. (An example would be worrying about your health even when there's nothing wrong).
___ I worry too much about small problems
___ My worry is excessive. In my opinion, I worry more than I should.
___ Other people tell me I worry too much.
___ My worry is hard to control. Once I start worrying, it's hard to stop, even if I try.
If you agreed with at least 3 of the statements, worrying might be a problem for you. In that event, I encourage you to download and complete the assessment measures at the links below.
