Cold Weather Training Tips

Dressing to stay warm

  • Don't wear cotton
  • Dress in layers - with zippers if possible. Outer shell and inner fleece should have front zippers to open up as you warm up.

By temp range

20 to 32 degrees - Sweat pants, inner long sleeve training t-shirt, outer shell, thin hat (like snowboarders wear under the helmet), thin gloves

5 to 20 degrees – add long underwear under the sweat pants, maybe an outer mitten.

-10 to 5 degrees – Add outer loose snow pants, full winter fleece & shell, outer mittens over the inner thin gloves.

-20 to -10 - add skiers face shield depending on the wind.

Below -20 - just not fun anymore, wait till tomorrow.
