Easy Ways To Make Money.
The Internet connects us to the world. It brings us closer to our friends and families, even though they may be in different corners of the world. However, the Internet also exposes you to people promising easy ways to make money!
People who make easy money are fraudsters. They operate scams such as online dating, working from home, disaster relief, unclaimed funds, black money etc. - the list is unending. Fraudsters are constantly inventing new ways to swindle you out of your cash. The Internet has become an easy tool for them to reach out to you. Even though there are several forums and sites on the net providing information to protect one against scams, there are thousands of cases of people who have lost their money in such scams. Many such frauds go unreported, because the victims often feel ashamed to say that they are gullible.
Xit-Koddi has recently learnt of one such scam affecting a couple of our community members and hence this alert from us. Beware! There is no easy way to make money. The sad reality is - it takes hard work.

Tujea Moga Khatir (For Your Love):Bahrain resident, Pio Fernandes, is back with his latest book of Konkani poems (in Roman script) entitled Tujea Moga Khatir For Your Love). This is his second book in a year, having released a book of his radio plays, entitled Kannio Jivitacheo (Stories of Life) in June 2012. In Tujea Moga Khatir, Pio recollects memories of his wife Joyce, who died in tragic circumstances in August last year. “It’s a tribute to my wife and my love and feelings for her”, he told Xit-Koddi. His quest for an answer from the Almighty for the crosses in his life, is well expressed in his poems. His battle with sickness and the encounter with God is also reflected in his poems. Fr. Diago Fernandes, Parish priest of St. Philip and St. James Church, Cortalim, released the book after the Requiem Mass celebrated on the first death anniversary of Joyce on August 29. Fr. Diago recited a poem from the book and eulogized the efforts of Pio to remember his wife in a unique way. Jose Salvador Fernandes, secretary of Dalgado Konknni Academy, spoke during the ceremony. Pio’s daughter, Anamika Fernandes, proposed a vote of thanks and a well-known writer, Pio Esteves compered the function. A few copies of the book are available at the Mangalore Store, Manama. Copies can also be had from Pio by contacting him at 39824570/33451212

Cornelio Pereira (Bahrain): Compliments to the Xit-Koddi team for providing us with refreshing and informative news of the Goan community of Bahrain.
Chic Baylon Da Cruz.
Xit-Koddi has featured in the past a Goan Star in Bahrain from the family of Carmo and Doloroza Da Cruz of Cansaulim, Goa. It was their daughter, Chiquitita, and this time, we are glad to highlight another star from the same family - their son Chic Baylon Da Cruz.Chic was only 13 when he began doing exceptionally well on the music scene. This ninth standard student of Indian School joined his school band as a Cymbal player in 2009. The very next year he was given the post of Lance Corporal. By virtue of his good performance, he was promoted to Corporal in 2011, and then climbed to the post of Vice-Captain of the school band in 2012. Chic has continuously won the best drummer award for three years, from 2010 to 2012. Chic also plays the violin and is very often seen playing on and off the stage for school programs. His musical talent has been recognized with certificates from Ministry of Health, Bahrain Scouts Council, Bahrain Science Fair and from Kalabhavan Music and Arts Institute. Chic attributes his skills to his music teachers Bernard D'Costa and J. L. Fernandes, who have helped him to read and write music. It is said that music streams in the blood of every Goan, and in Chic we have a little star with this musical talent. Xit-Koddi wishes Chic Baylon Da Cruz even greater success in the field of music.
The St. Cruz double murder case has sent shock waves across Goa. Twists and turns are in the news regularly since the murder took place on September 2. We bring you a link of Niz Goenkar, Goa, providing an update on this case:

Adeus to Bahrain: Cypriano George and Gretta Monteiro, left Bahrain for good at the beginning of this month to settle down in Goa. George had first arrived in Bahrain in 1979, to work for Arab Advertising and Marketing. He later joined Memac Ogilvy and retired from Mindshare, an associate company of Memac. His wife Gretta worked with the American Embassy for a pretty long time, and was with Durat Al Bahrain before they returned to Goa. Their daughter Natasha, who was born and brought up in Bahrain, is now working in Dubai. The couple, who were active members of the Young Goans Club for a long time, always patronised the programes and events of the club. George, with a flair for singing, was often seen participating in the musical nights of the club. The couple originally from Lotulim, will now settle down in Margao.
Farewell to Richard D'Souza: Richard D'Souza from Assagao, was felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony of the Goans Football Summer Fiesta on August 29. Richard worked with Awal Refrigeration for 10 years as a Technician, and for the last four years with Maya Chocolates (The Living Concepts) as Maintenance Engineer. During his stay in Bahrain, Richard was actively involved with the football activities of Goans. He has played for several teams such as Vasco, Calangute, Majorda, Riffa Boys and led his village team Assagao Youth, in the recently concluded Bahrain Goans Football league. He was presented with a memento for his contribution and support to football in Bahrain. The memento was presented to him by senior footballer Hilary Sanches (seen in the picture here). Xit-Koddi wishes Richard a bright future and success in his plans back home in Goa.
Tony Pereira Bids Goodbye To Bahrain. Another longtime Goan resident of Bahrain, left for good at the beginning of this month. He is Tony Pereira from Cansaulim, Goa. He arrived in Bahrain in 1975 to work for Awalco as a technician, and later moved to the Shaheen Group, from where he retired at the end of August this year. He was a member of the Young Goans Club, until the Gulf War, and fondly recollects the festivities at the club. He returns to Goa to join his wife Martha. His two daughters, Pearl and Ruby, are married and settled in London and Delhi respectively. We wish him a pleasant and happy stay in Goa.

Edward, a former senior division player of Goa, had the distinction of representing Goa University for three consecutive years has also played for several teams in Bahrain including the Young Goans Club in the Hempels Expatriate Football League.
