Maie Mogacho Nomoskar!
Goykars (Goans) are spread all over the globe. Wherever they may be, Goans always remain Goans at heart, and retain a strong attachment to their family, land and culture. They sustain these links through various cultural activities and reinforce them with regular visits to Goa.
Abroad, they maintain contact with each other and with their loved ones and friends in Goa, making use of modern means of communications such as email. Internet technology has greatly facilitated keeping in touch with each other. Numerous forums and newsletters are in circulation, publicizing the activities of Goan clubs, associations and groups, worldwide, and announcing news of importance to the Goan community.
This has inspired me to launch this newsletter Xit-Koddi for the Goan community based in Bahrain. Xit-Koddi (Rice and curry) has been the staple food in Goa for our ancestors and remains so today too. It represents a vital element of Goan cuisine and of our culture, and as such, is a symbol of the culture that we would like to maintain even when we and our children are so influenced by the rapid changes that are taking place in our way of living abroad.
Please feel free to email me any items of news of general interest, as also your views or information that you think may be useful to our community. Your suggestions for its improvement are most welcome.
Cheers ani Mog Asum !
