Time To Salute Ourselves
The recent incidents of desecrations created a lot of tension in Goa.The police has arrested one Francis Pereira, aged 50 years, in this connection. However, not everyone is satisfied with his arrest. There are voices complimenting the police force while others feel that this is a cover up story. With the ongoing investigation, we at Xit-Koddi are optimistic that the truth will soon come to light.
But our compliments are to ourselves – GOANS, for maintaining exemplary calm during these testing times. Elsewhere, in the country, these kinds of incidents would have flared up into communal violence. The bonds of unity, peace and friendship between Hindus, Christians and Muslims of Goa have manifested the age old maturity in handling this issue. Goans stood tall believing that no true, right thinking Goan group or individuals would ever damage the social and religious fabric of Goa. It is for this, that we salute ourselves.
May this communal harmony reign in Goa forever.

Francisco & Piedade Pereira
Anamika Fernandes & Vinosha Gracias
Behind everyone’s success, there is effort and dedication. And success should be given recognition. Xit-Koddi takes pride in recognizing two little Goan stars in Bahrain.
Anamika Raiza Fernandes of Indian School
Goan Community members Francisco and his beloved wife Piedade Pereira bade farewell to their second home – Bahrain - at the end of June.
Francisco, a humble gentleman with lots of emulative qualities worked with E. K. Kanoo (Toyota) from the time of his arrival to Bahrain in 1981. Soft spoken Francisco attended customers with his unique personality at the parts counter of Toyota at Manama . On retirement, Francisco was presented with a handsome cash award for his long and dedicated service with the company.
His wife Piedade, is well known not only to Goan but to a large number of Indian Community members. She has served at The Asian School for the last 26 years. Many of us, whose children have studied at Asian School will agree with me on the professional enthusiasm as a teacher she exhibited to lay a strong foundation for our children at school.
The couple are blessed with a son and daughter, both of them, born and brought up in Bahrain. Their daughter Brenda Pereira, completed her schooling at the Indian School Bahrain and went on to complete her Engineering (Architecture) at the Pune University. Their son Brian Pereira, also completed his schooling at Indian School and graduated in BBA through Global Institute, Bahrain. Brian is employed with Toyota as a Parts Advisor for their Body Shop Division in Arad.
The family hails from St. Jose De Areal, Goa. Xit-Koddi wishes Francisco and Piedade a peaceful and happy settlement back home in ‘Amchem Goem'.
