Goa in FIFA World Cup?
The talk of the day these days, around the globe, is about the FIFA World Cup 2014. News also came in that six MLAs from Goa had been granted funds by the state government to travel to Brazil for the Football World Cup. ‘Misuse of public funds!!!’ cried every Goan on all forums of the media.
Our honorable CM justified the trip with a pathetic excuse. ‘They are going to study traffic management and infrastructure’, the CM said on national television. This is the same CM who sent a delegation of MLAs to European countries to study garbage management. This is the same CM, who sent MLAs to England in 2012 to study and explore the possibility of introducing motocross in Goa. The result of these study tours - a Big Zero! This is the same Manohar, who said that his government would discourage wasteful expenditure and not allow any useless foreign trips. This is Manohar, our CM, well known for his popular U turns. And the Ache din aaane waley hai slogan of BJP seems to be, not for the public, but for MLAs.
However, the social, electronic and print media cried out loud and clear, against this ‘fooling’ of the people by our CM, and in 24 hours, the decision was reversed and announced that the MLA’s will bear the expenses of the trip. What a victory for the voice of the people!
Cheers

Godwin Isidore D’Cruz
There comes a stage in life when we need to apply the brakes, wait for the signal, change gears and then accelerate and move ahead. That turning point came in the life of Godwin Isidore D’Cruz, when he took up a career in the automotive industry in Muscat in the year 2000.
Xit-Koddi has picked Godwin as the personality for the month, highly appreciating his vision for the Young Goans Club, where he has been nominated Vice President for the current term. “My vision is to protect and enhance the club’s image, consistent with the history and traditions of Goa, which constitutes a progressive, responsive and proactive community service. To achieve this vision I am committed to foster an environment of mutual trust, and to provide necessary resources to our community backed by positive criticism. I would like to reiterate that the club is a place that unites art, community and culture through creative discovery, exploration and enlightenment. We respect and value all our members (both old and new), volunteers and supporters who have been committed and contributed to the club all through the years since its inception”, he told Xit-Koddi during our interaction with him.
Godwin, with a BSc from Mumbai University, a Diploma in Computer Arts and an MBA from Amity University, started his professional career in advertising/media in Mumbai. He is presently employed with KIA Motors as Fleet Sales Manager. He has worked in the automotive industry in the Gulf for 14 years with well known brands such as Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Aston Martin, Toyota, Lexus etc. Godwin has been in Bahrain since 2004. He has overcome many challenges on the career path but has been climbing up the ladder with courage and tenacity given the adverse and changing job scenario in the Gulf.
Godwin disclosed to Xit-Koddi that he was associated with parish and school activities in Mumbai, which played an important role in his upbringing - aspects that include character-building, social activities, community welfare, leadership sessions and personality development.
Godwin hails from Majorda, Goa, is married to Juliana and is blessed with a seven-year-old son, Grenville, and a two-year old daughter Johanna. Xit-Koddi wishes Godwin all the very best in accomplishing his vision for the Goan community of Bahrain.
… Goa was the first part of Asia to get a mechanized printing press, in the early 1500s, barely a century after it was invented by German blacksmith Johannes Gutenburg?
Angus A. Arokiaswamy (Australia):Bahrain is also known as the Island of Pearls. I never caught or found one but I am no less than a pearl. Bahrain has given me more than I can ask for. I was born and brought up in Bahrain, got married in Bahrain and my child was born in Bahrain - the list is never ending. It had been my home for the years I have lived, and departing from it did make me emotional, but just as my parents thought about my betterment and made the move, I too did the same. I miss playing football with the Goan community and specially my team mates of Panjim Footballers and Castle Boys. Hope to visit Bahrain soon.
Anthony Rodrigues (Bahrain). Thank you for giving us Xit-Koddi every month. It is nice to see that you highlight the achievements of Goan children and adults in different fields. It would be nice if you could bring us some stories of the first or early Goans in Bahrain. Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is good. Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.
