Connecting Bahrain Goans Since 2010
Several Goans from different parts of Goa got the opportunity to be friends or atleast to know each other because of their employment in Bahrain. Surely, many would not even know each other back home in Goa. At the end of our jobs in Bahrain, most have settled back home in Goa, whereas quite a few have migrated to U.K. Australia, New Zealand, U.S.A and Canada. Goans presently working in Bahrain are estimated around six to seven thousand.
It is natural that once we settle down to our permanent homes, we always desire to know about the place and community we worked with, during our past lives. Xit-Koddi completes seven years, doing this in a little way, spreading the news about Bahrain Goans far and wide keeping true to our tagline – Connecting Bahrain Goans Globally.
With this satisfaction, I salute everyone who have rendered their help in publishing this e-Newsletter – celebrating its 7th anniversary with this issue.

Congratulations – Glenn Pacheco: Doing a good job is not always about impressive innovation. Sometimes it is only about doing something with plain dedication. We congratulate our community member Glenn Pacheco, who was awarded employee of the month award at Bin Hindi Motors (Kia Motors-Bahrain). Glenn joined Bin Hindi Motors as Senior Sales Executive in 2014 and his hard work and dedication were rewarded with a promotion to Showroom-In-Charge within a short period of time. He is credited with highest sales figures for Kia Motors for 2 consecutive years. Glenn is seen receiving the certificate from Mohammed Isa Bin Hindi, General Manager for Kia sales in Bahrain in the presence of John Joseph, Brand Manager (to the left in the picture) and Muneer Abassi, the Group HR Manager for Bin Hindi Group (to the right). Glenn, a talented musician is always at hand to support any musical activities of Goans in Bahrain. We wish him continued success with the company.

Meet the Goan Festakar - Marius Fernandes: Marius,
who was born in Kenya to Goan parents lived in the United Kingdom before moving to Goa. He was eager to do something towards Goan culture and identity and took up breathing life into the various traditional festivals of Goa by actively involving the villagers. The concept he has adopted in celebrating these festivals is – No Sponsors – No Chief Guest – No Alcohol – No Competitions – No Prizes. In line with these guidelines, the festivals that are celebrated include Ghumatachem Fest at Siridao, Ramponkarachem Fest in Arambol, Poderamchem Fest, Patoienchem Fest and Ponsachem Fest at Soccoro, Porvorim. There are plans to hold Diversity Festival in Khorlim, Old Goa, Earth Festival in Majorda, Drum Festival in Calangute and Tiatrsitachem Fest in Candolim. Only Konkani music is played during these celebrations. successful growth of Bahrain over the last 40 years. There were no malls, not many supermarkets and no high-rise buildings, when Moises arrived in Bahrain on October 8, 1977 to work for Selcon, an electrical company. The administrative and accounts executive, bade goodbye to Bahrain on October 8, 2017 – completing exactly 40 years with Selcon.
Moises, a popular face at the Sacred Heart Church (SHC) parish was involved in several social and religious works over the 40 years of his stay on this island of golden smiles. He was with the lector's ministry of SHC in his early years to Bahrain and later joined the hospitality ministry, where he served for 35 years, until his departure to Goa.
Moises, considered friendship as a valuable gift and enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. A great lover of football, he was associated with United Goans football team of Bahrain, during their glorious days in the 1980’s. He has served for several terms on the executive committee of Konkan Singers Club, where he had climbed up to the post of vice-president.
Moises, dedicated his free-time for collage art - a technique of composing art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another. He had a large collection of this art and over the years he had put up three exhibitions of his works in Bahrain. The first one was at the Bahrain Arts Society and the last two at SHC. He contribution to charitable causes from the proceeds of these exhibitions.
“ I am returning back to my home-town and will devote my retired time to assist in religious services at my parish in Cuncolim, Goa. Collage art will continue to occupy my free time’ Moises told Xit-Koddi on his departure to Goa. We wish Moises a pleasant retired life with good health and happiness.
