Merry Christmas Everyone!!
Christmas stands out as a time for families and togetherness. A time for sharing, for joy, for being thankful and for faith and appreciation.
Through Xit-Koddi, we have been able to build up a small family of readers. From last Christmas to this one, it's been quite an experience. Thank you for staying with Xit-Koddi. Together, we have highlighted many subjects, and exchanged ideas on topics relevant to our community. We are honored to have a place in the routine of our readers.
As I thank you for your continued support, in the words of Shakin’ Stevens’ song, let me say ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’.

Pio Fernandes (Bahrain): Xit-Koddi was tasty except that Seby's contribution to the Konkani stage in Bahrain was missed out in the article. He was also popular in Bahrain due to tiatrs where he mostly did comedy in a female role. Mog asum. (Editor’s note: Thank you Pio, for adding the missing ingredient on Seby.)

Bernadine & Donald Arthur D’Silva (Goa) : What could we say
about the good old days when we were in Bahrain, except that as the song goes.... "Those were the days, my friend, we thought they would never end"......and all the singing and dancing within our own group of friends "The Reng-Te-Teng". We never really thought what the world meant; except for the great warmth and friendship we shared with our close friends. The impromptu get-togethers, the jokes and the loud laughter ringing out through the nights of most weekends. Those were special. Also, not forgetting the great times we had at the Young Goans Club functions. We were very fortunate to have lived and worked in Bahrain, and to meet the people we met who were friendly and cultured. The freedom we enjoyed to worship at the Sacred Heart Church was really awesome, not to forget the Sacred Heart School grounds and the Mass celebrations at Christmas, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Viva La Bahrain.

Xaverina and Nazareth Souza.
The largest gathering of Goans in Bahrain is seen once a year for the Feast Mass of St. Francis Xavier at Sacred Heart Church (SHC). This event brought to our attention Xaverina and Nazareth Souza.
Christmas: Christmas celebrations of Sacred Heart Church (SHC) parish will begin on December 24, at 7.45 p.m at the SHC school grounds in Isa Town with a Christmas play followed by carol singing. The vigil Mass will be at 8.30 p.m.
Christmas Program: Home Away From Home, the annual Christmas program of SHC for domestic workers of our parish will be held on Christmas Day at Our Lady of Arabia Hall. There will be two sessions, the first from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon and the second from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. There will be Holy Mass followed by entertainment and Christmas gifts’ distribution. Parishioners may support this program with their donations.
Xaverina, who celebrates her birthday on the feast day of St. Francis Xavier and Nazareth are not new faces to the Goan Catholic community of Bahrain, especially to those who attend the Konkani Mass on Sundays at the SHC, Manama. Nazareth looks after the choir arrangements, while his wife Xaverina plays on the keyboard at this Mass. The devout couple from Goa Velha , has been involved in this service at the church for over 15 years. They also play a leading role at the Konkani Holy Hour services on Fridays at the SHC. However, their service at the SHC is highlighted during the novenas and feast of St. Francis Xavier. Nazaerth arranges the Konkani hymns relevant to the theme of the novenas and Xaverina provides sweet music on the keyboards. Both of them credit J. L. Fernandes for his guidance and support in these services.
Nazareth, who is in Bahrain since 1983 got married to Xaverina in 1992. The couple is blessed with two daughters Nazia and Valanka. May God bless this family abundantly, is our prayer.
