Galaxy of Konkani Stars To Rock Bahrain On November 5
Bahrainche Goykar 2
Encouraged by the success of musical show 'Bahrainche Goykar' in 2014, Directors Jr. Luis Anthony and Claude Farrier have roped in some of the best talented artistes of Konkani stage to present yet another musical extravaganza ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’. The show under the patronage of Young Goans Club will be held on November 5, 2015 at the Baan Saeng Thai Restaurant Auditorium in Adliya from 7.30 p.m onwards. This time around artistes from Kuwait, Dubai, Mumbai and Goa will team up with Bahrain based singers, actors and musicians to entertain the Konkani music lovers of Bahrain. Among the top billed artistes are: Francis De Tuem: Here is 'the uncrowned king of political songs' who manages to pack a punch in the music department, with his variety of hilarious and meaningful compositions leaving the audience hungry for encores. In keeping with his signature, unabashed style, tiatr director Francis de Tuem refuses to mince words as he tells the fourth estate, through his songs the ill-doings of the political class. Upon attaining success as a composer-singer of political melodies, Francis has his own tiatr 'Reporter' running to packed houses in Goa highlighting the need of truthful and responsible news coverage. It may be noted that Francis De Tuem, a couple of years back was arrested by the Goa Police in connection with a complaint of extortion and defamation filed by Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco. He was later released on bail. “As a tiatrist, I have been performing all over Goa for the last 15 years and as a socially conscious citizen, I have always highlighted the ill-doings of our politicians,” Francis had told the media then. Do not miss this opportunity to watch Francis De Tuem live in Bahrain in ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’.
Kuwait Trio: Konkani tiatrs are never complete without a Trio song. The team of Cajetan de Sanvordem-Mario de Majorda-Michael D'Silva have become greatly synonymous with the audience in Kuwait. The Kuwait Trio is led by Cajetan De Sanvordem - known to be the ‘Thespian of Konkani Stage’. A Kala Academy Award winner for Best Actor and Konkani Bhasha Mandal's Best Singer, he has been rendering his services to Konkani art (drama & films) since the 70’s. He has ‘dressed up’ in almost every tiatr staged in Kuwait. The thespian was recently awarded by the Tiartrist Academy of Goa (TAG) for his immense contribution in the field of drama. Cajetan de Sanvordem is apparently the founder member of the Kuwait Trio. Cajetan, along with Marcus Vaz and Xavier Gomes had formed the trio years ago. While Cajetan holds the fort, Mario de Majorda and Michael D’Silva have been around as a team for quite a while now. Come and watch the well-known Kuwait based stars present their selected Trios at ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’. Kenny Zuzarte (Miss Kenny): As a child he had two ambitions, to be a teacher and an actor. Even though acting and singing was considered taboo in his family with perseverance Kenny Zuzarte achieved them both. The mere mention of the name ‘Kenny’ on the Konkani tiatr stage conjures images of a tall and beautiful young lady dressed in her finery from head to toe, belting out foot-tapping solos in a soothing female voice. Kenny began his musical career as a singer in a Hindi orchestra, singing in a female voice for many big names like Robin Brothers, Sonraj Productions, Alibab and his grand orchestra etc. But he did not derive much satisfaction from it, until he came in contact with senior Konkani stage artiste Philomena Braz from Mumbai who gave Kenny a break to sing and act in her tiatr. Later he performed in tiatrs of C.Alvares, Prem Kumar and was supported by Gabru Gomes with composition of songs. The road to success on the Konkani stage was clear and charted for Kenny from there onwards. Kenny, who has performed in Bahrain, some years back, was once asked why he is so inclined to play female roles or sing as a female. Kenny shot back “This is a question that has been put before me umpteen times...but I do not have an answer to it. Maybe the question should be put forth to the audience. They have, after all, accepted me in female attire, singing and acting in female roles. I am sure they like what I do, they like my dress sense, my mannerisms as a woman...and hence I still exist’. It will be a treat to watch this male actor in a female role in ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’.
Dubai Trio: This will be the third performance of Dubai Trio in Bahrain. Every song of this Trio was encored for the hungry audience as they rocked the shows with their presentations at Bahrain in 2013 and 2014. Fabulous stage presence, attractive lyrics, commanding singing style, and the way they sang something different each time was simply awesome. Their inimitable style of singing supported with related poster displays makes them very popular with the crowd. The Dubai Trio is led by Edwin D’Costa, who has been recently felicitated by the Goa Tiatr Academy for his contribution to Konkani music. He has produced 83 music albums so far, the very recent one being ‘ Padr Agnel’. Anthony De Nuvem and Manuxin are the other members of this Trio. The Dubai Trio is set to keep their demand and their popularity with the Goan tiatr lovers here with their participation in ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’.Music Maestro Shahu Almeida: Magical Maestro Shahu Almeida is one of the most popular Goan musicians in the Middle East. Shahu Almeida shines amongst the stellar bracket of Goa's top-notch musicians with his indispensable contribution towards the art. Shahu may be recognized more in the genre of dramas. But behind his simplicity, is the unmistakable halo of his talent as a star musician. Shahu, had the rare and splendid opportunity of honing his musical skills under the baton of Chris Perry, the eternal icon and consummate genius of Goan music and playing alongside his son Errol Perry. But it was his evolution into a keyboardist that shot him into instant fame. Shahu’s musical creativity was elevated further after his arrival in Kuwait in October 1999. He began with a bang in Kuwait-based director Jose Rod's unmatched hit 'Tujem Nanv Vhodd Zaum' which was staged all over in the Middle East and in Goa. That was the first time Shahu performed in Bahrain. He was with the musical team of ‘Bahrainche Goykar’ show in 2014 and will once again join Bernard, Joseph, Milton, Eliana, Glenn and Bobby to smarten the musical effects at ‘Bahrainche Goykar 2’. Bahrain Based Artistes: Among the Bahrain based actors/singers supporting the famed artistes will be Reginald De Curtorim, Francis Sequeira, Menino Fernandes, Avon Travon, Hilary Telis, Sujay Pinto, Stanley, Ronny, Melba, Samantha, Anamika, Lourdin & Austina. 'Bahrainche Goykar 2' is a rare opportunity for Bahrainche Goykar to watch multi-talented stars gathered from Goa, Mumbai, Kuwait and Dubai alongside Bahrain based tiatrists. The show is expected to provide entertainment of songs, music and comedy. Tickets for the show are available at the Young Goans Club, World Greetings or Contact Mobile 39280825.
