Good Times Are Ahead.
The people of India have given a very clear mandate to Narendra Modi and the BJP to govern our great nation for the next five years. The electorate will now look forward on the enormous promises the BJP made during campaigning.
Good times are ahead, said Modi in his victory speech. We at Xit-Koddi, picked up just two promises of the BJP, that we will look forward for fulfillment by the new government, namely, ‘the minorities don’t have to live in a climate of fear’ and ‘Special Status for Goa’. The first will bring harmony among Indians at large, and the second will raise the spirit of Goans.
Cheers to NaMo !

Francis Peter D'Souza (Goa): My sincere thanks to the Xit-Koddi team, for giving us all the news about Bahrain and especially about the Young Goans Club. It is sad to know that there are not many members who are interested in taking up committee posts. This is the club, where we can keep our Goan traditions and language flowing. Hope the Goans in Bahrain will unite under its banner.

Francis Vaz
- Honored At National Level.
Francis Vaz was among 300 outstanding employees in the private sector honored by Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan of Bahrain. The awards were presented to mark Labour Day at a function organized by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions at Crowne Plaza in May, this year.
Generally, the names of Bahrainis feature predominantly in these annual awards, and very rarely are Indian names listed. It is learnt that Francis Vaz is the first Goan to get this award. The honor carries a citation and a cash award.
Francis Vaz, hailing from Porvorim has been in Bahrain for the last 35 years. He arrived in Bahrain to work in the sales department of Awal Plastics, where, by dint of his hard work and dedication, he climbed the ladder of success and is currently the Sales Manager of this well-known company in Bahrain.
Francis is married to Pamela, a professional nurse, who was with the Salmaniya Medical Centre for several years before migrating to Canada, where she now lives with their daughter, Nikita. He is a life member of the Young Goans Club and is also on the executive committee as its Joint Secretary. Francis, who enjoys joining in Goan festivities in Bahrain, was the lead person to host Remo Fernandes in Bahrain in the late eighties.
Averyl Sasha Pinto adorned the columns of Xit-Koddi in October 2012 as the little Goan star in Bahrain. We are pleased to highlight her once again, as she topped the Goa Common Entrance Exam (GCET) held in April 2014. With a score of 190 of 225 in physics, chemistry and biology, Averyl Sasha Pinto earned for herself the first right to a medical seat at the Goa Medical College. The daughter of bank project manager, Martinho, and homemaker, Marushka, she has excelled in her studies throughout her schooling in Bahrain. It’s the nobility of the doctor’s profession, and my desire to save lives that has attracted me to medicine, she told reporters in Goa, soon after the results were announced. We congratulate Averyl, and wish her success in her medical studies.
Xit-Koddi extends its sincere greetings to Francis Vaz on this achievement at the national level in Bahrain.
Clyde & Louella Dias (Australia): Sacred Heart Church, Andalus gardens, Vrindavan food, Young Goans Club, Christmas caroling and school holiday summer camps are just a few of our fonder memories of growing up in Bahrain. The best part of our stay on this tiny island were the friends that we made that became part of an extended family over the 20 years we spent there. The companionship of the people we left behind is something we dearly miss in Australia. We sincerely hope that everyone in Bahrain savors every moment of its beautiful summer, culture and people as it simply cannot be compared to anything anywhere else in this world.
(We invite past Goan residents of Bahrain, to share their recollections in this column)
