To manufacture any 3D file, you have to export it as a suitable format from the 3D software you are using. In our context, if you want to 3D print your model it should be exported as a .STL file. If you want to laser cut it you should export a 2D .PDF profile.Â

When you have exported your files, they should be attached to the file assignment set by your teacher. You should include important details such as requested material colours and if the files require an engrave. If you want an image or texture engraving on a part, you should also include that image on the classroom assignment.
NOTE: There are many variations of file type for example, a .STEP file can sometimes be used for 3D models and a .DXF can sometimes be used for 2D laser cutting.
