Computer aided design is the process of using a computer to help you design a digital model.
These pictures show some examples of 3D models drawn in Onshape.
AR (augmented reality) lets you take any 3D model and experience it within the real environment. This allows us to test and 'experience' a design to some degree before any resources are used for manufacture.
These are the steps that you must follow to complete the modelling of you lamp.
Remember to adapt the techniques to match your own design shape!
Once you have Finished your 3D model and had it checked by your teacher, Click on the botton to see how to export your files ready to manufacture
For this project you will use the 3D modelling application called Onshape. You can sign up for a free education account at the webpage www.onshape.com/edu * you must use your school e-mail.
There are videos below that will guide you through the process of making an account.
The first stage of starting your 3D CAD is creating an Onshape account so you can use the onshape design program.
Follow the video carefully to set up your education subscription account and to learn how to log in to Onshape.
Mood Lamp Template
The first part of modelling your mood lamp involves copying the basic mood lamp file from the public area on onshape and making a copy of it for yourself. You will then share this file with your teacher using onshape's built in share function.
This video will guide you through the process.
This video is a must watch before you begin modelling in Onshape browser. It will show an overview of the workspace and explain some of the control buttons and features.
This is the ipad app version of the introduction video. It will show you some of the gestures and menus.
