Letter Knowledge is the ability to recognize, name, and say the sounds of all 52 uppercase and lowercase letters.
Materials: 26 lowercase letter manipulatives or flashcards
Only use letters that you have taught students thus far.

Also, you may lead into the activity with letters you are sure they already know to build confidence before introducing letters that are newer to them.
Students will demonstrate knowledge of 26 lowercase letter names.
If students have mastered all 26 lowercase letter names, then assess the uppercase letter names.
How do you know if the students are ready for a Mastery Task?
We recommend administering a Mastery Task after an intervention, or targeted teaching of that skill, has been in place for 3 weeks. If a student appears to have mastered the skill before then, we recommend administering the Mastery Task.
What do I do with the results of the Mastery Task?
Using the results to guide your next lessons is a proactive approach to target weak skills or advance to the next skill level for students.
