We compiled resources for your teams to continue using the DBPA each year. The recommendation is to complete this capacity assessment every 6-12 months and develop an action plan to determine next steps. Graphs for each administration and up to four over time will populate in the DBPA Capture Tool. The DBPA comes from the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN) work on evaluating implementation practices.

Before administering the assessment, at least 1-2 people (two is preferable) from your team must become certified to administer the assessment. To do this, they complete the DBPA Capacity Administration Assessment Course (30-60 mins) provided by NIRN. One person may serve as administrator, the other person may serve as facilitator/note taker. In cases where there are only a few people on the team, one person can administer and take notes.

Steps for completion

Two people complete certification course to administer the DBPA, one person is designated the administrator
Administrator schedules administration with the team
Team completes the DBPA administration
Team reviews DBPA results
Team develops an action plan to complete actions for strengthening implementation
Team follows action plan
1. Completes activities
2. Reviews progress
3. Develops new action plan (this cycle repeats based on team capacity)
Team completes the next DBPA administration (team repeats this cycle)

The Notetaker uses this document to capture the scores for each driver and take notes about what respondents (participants) say about their ratings and why. Results populate in graphs within this tool.

This template is used to determine which activities and tasks the team will add to an action plan. Action plans are typically developed directly after the DBPA administration or within the week. Plans are developed and progress is reviewed between assessments (every 6-12 months)
