A clear purpose is a straightforward description of what students will learn and be able to do.
Teachers provide a clear purpose to ground students in the upcoming lesson. A clear purpose is effective when the teacher describes what they will be doing and why it is important, as well as the expected outcomes and why the skills are important to them.
A clear purpose helps children understand what they are going to do. It gives them a chance to make connections with what they already know about that topic. By using a goal, children know when they successfully master the skill (or objective).
