One-on-one
The student will read grade level text at an appropriate rate, with 90% or greater accuracy, and appropriate prosody.
Goals
By the end of Grade 1 = Students should read 60 WCPM.
By the end of Grade 2 = Students should read 90 WCPM.
By the end of Grade 3 = Students should read 120 WCPM.
Grading:
Rate or WCPM (Words Correct Per Minute)
Count the number of words read correct.
The words read correct in one minute is the rate or WPM.
Accuracy: Count the total number of words in the passage.
Accuracy = Number of words read correct / Total number of words read in the passage.
For example: 75 words read correctly out of 80 total words read = 94% accuracy

How do you know if the students are ready for a Mastery Task?
We recommend administering a Mastery Task after an intervention, or targeted teaching of that skill, has been in place for 3 weeks. If a student appears to have mastered the skill before then, we recommend administering the Mastery Task.
What do I do with the results of the Mastery Task?
Using the results to guide your next lessons is a proactive approach to target weak skills or advance to the next skill level for students.
