Our High Level Objectives

2023-24 NIHR CRN High Level Objectives

An amended version (v1.1) of the 2023/24 High Level Objectives, reducing their number to three, was agreed with immediate effect from 31 July 2023 (this was also applied to Q1 reporting). Previous objectives (greyed out), including current performance against these objectives is included to provide fuller contextual information.

High Level Objective: Study Delivery

a)   Percentage of closed to recruitment commercial contract studies which have achieved their recruitment target (Ambition 80%).

b)      Percentage of closed to recruitment non-commercial contract studies which have achieved their recruitment target (Ambition 80%).

c)       (1) Percentage of open to recruitment commercial contract studies which are predicted to achieve their recruitment target (Ambition 80%).

d)      (2) Percentage of open to recruitment non-commercial studies which are predicted to achieve their recruitment target (Ambition 80%).

The likelihood of not meeting these objectives is low.

High Level Objective: Participant Experience

(3) Demonstrate to people taking part in health and social care research studies that their contribution is valued through collecting their feedback and using this to inform improvement in research delivery. For 2023/24, we have set ourselves the aim of being the highest performing network on this measure.

CRN East of England has traditionally performed very strongly on this measure and 5% of funding for 2023/24 was included in the second stage of the financial model based on partners’ completion rates of PRES during 2022/23. Partners have engaged positively with our PRES lead to incorporate this into their studies, and their organisation’s completion of the PRES (including a breakdown by type e.g., Children’s, Adult, Dementia) can readily be viewed via an interactive dashboard to which they have access.

For 2023/24 we have set ourselves the aim of being the highest performing network on this measure.

The risk of not meeting this objective is low.
