Business Intelligence

We support all aspects of information, intelligence and data visualisation relating to studies on the NIHR Portfolio. This includes system development, data management, ad hoc reporting, advice and guidance.  Please follow this link for further information on the Portfolio.

Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS)

The Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) is the primary national system for managing studies on the NIHR Portfolio

If you are a Chief Investigator, Study Coordinator or Research Activity Coordinator, you should have been given access to this system when the study was set up. If you do not have access and need to manage your study's recruitment, please contact supportmystudy@nihr.ac.uk. If you do not manage a study but wish to see data relating to its recruitment and progress, we have other tools which are better suited to analysis. In particular:

Open Data Platform

Find out about our Local Portfolio Management System (LPMS): EDGE.

Open Data Platform (ODP)

The Open Data Platform (ODP) is a data visualisation tool using Qlikview to analyse the data held within CPMS. There are a number of different "apps" or reports available from the main menu, including a dedicated CRN East of England one designed and built by the BI Team to meet our local reporting needs. Within the app there are also links to a feedback form to report errors or request changes.

Tutorial Videos

CRN East of England has produced some ODP App Tutorial videos to help guide users. More are currently in production but the following are now available for viewing via the NIHR Hub:

The Recruitment Matrix

Recruitment Activity Changes

From 2019/20, recruitment for Portfolio studies will be handled through a new process. Rather than being uploaded by study teams in a big batch, recruitment in most cases will be sent to CPMS from the activity recorded by site teams in individual LPMSs, which study teams will then check and either confirm or send back with a query. In some cases, where it is not possible for recruitment to be recorded at sites, those studies will be designated as exceptions and recruitment will continue to be recorded by the study team in regular uploads.

If you have any queries about this process, please contact crneoe.bihelpdesk@nihr.ac.uk.
