Be Part of Research is the NIHR's online registry that makes it easier then ever before for people to find out about relevant research that is local to them. Be Part of Research allows you to quickly search for studies by condition and location.
The Be Part of Research website was launched nationwide in 2019 after a successful social media campaign. Be Part of Research is a public-focused site that puts emphasis on accessibility and ease of use. Study names and descriptions are succinct and use accessible language.
Be Part of Research has helped the NIHR increase the number of people taking part in research, a figure that is already at record levels.
The site is a fantastic resource for patients, members of the public and healthcare professionals. Directing people to the website helps to start the conversation about research in a short and simple manner, and provides a way for people to find out about research happening in their local area.
You can support the campaign and site by using the hashtag #BePartOfResearch on social media.
There is a large variety of supporting materials, ranging from leaflets and posters to badges, that can be ordered to promote the website. There is a large variety of supporting materials, ranging from leaflets and posters to badges, that can be ordered to promote the website.
These are perfect for sharing at events, meetings and appointments, with patients, the public and staff who are not involved in research. All materials can be ordered from the online store.
The Be Part of Research website is designed to make it as easy as possible for patients to find out about your study, and make contact with the researchers behind it.
For a study to be listed on the site it must first be uploaded onto one of 2 directories, ISRCTN or Clinicaltrials.gov.
Once uploaded to either of these databases it will be picked up by the NIHR team and added to the Be Part of Research Website. This can take up to a week.
This is the only route by which a study can be added to the site - please see here for more information.
